Because you do not bother to set any tags on your audio files.

How many songs are in your library? Can you check if these songs are indeed missing in the ST3 folder?

Damir I know this I was the one that suggested it, but when you export on iMac it’s impossible to find the ST3 folder when using export it’s well hidden and you are not able to exit to settings, iPad and iPhone it’s reasonably easy to find ST3 folder.

peter To store audio region settings, export a song through the export feature as a .stsa file.

I have done this but how do I then import this file ?
Also when exporting one file only it would be very useful to load the song name in automatically for us so we can recognise the file, if I try to rename it the songs list is hidden by the export window I can see the songs title to be able to name it exactly. I understand your reason for bulk saving but it’s not friendly for single export.

I have also done this and it automatically jumps to ST3 and not the beta , this I don’t think is appropriate as I don’t want my ST3 main program to be interfered with.
Plus if I have a number of songs within this one file how do I know what I am loading in to my software, this is very dangerous.
Am I using it wrong?

I set my song title and my artist column in all my songs , what are these other tags you mentioned and where do they need to be set and why?

peter I guess your best option is to use a midi monitor to see what is sent when exactly and troubleshoot from there. If you then still need help please start a new thread as this has nothing to do with the beta.

Thanks Peter, I’ll see how it goes with feedback from the Showmagic team. I only mentioned it on this thread because I’m exploring avenues with the new midi action buttons that are exclusive to the beta but I probably failed to mention that. The new buttons are a great addition but my software is not playing nice.

Damir That's the problem that the beta is not a fully independent application. It is basically only ST3 with a nice beta label. Regular users don't have the problem of the wrong app opening. You could instead drag and drop the file into the ST3 Beta window or use the Right click open with menu.

That's up to you. You could name your files accordingly or always store single songs. Whatever you imagine. I am not going to impose any option on the user.

peter When you delete songs, only the audio files attached to these songs are deleted. Same thing happens when you restore a backup

I thought as you delete a song you get a choice to just delete that particular database of that song or the database and the audio itself which gets rid of everything relating to that song including the audio, if that’s not true perhaps that’s why we are getting weird results.
My audio file is god it can be used by multiple created songs and each songs database controls this audio file in its selected way, when you decide to delete any of those songs you get to choose if you just delete that database or if you choose the other option you will get rid of all databases using that song and the audio file itself, this logic is what I thought was used, if not then I can see why we are all getting unusual behaviour.

You mean you set it in ST3. You don't set any tags in the audio file before loading it into ST3. That's what I meant with: "you do not bother to set any tags on your audio files."

The consequence is that the title tag contains the filename after you load it in.

iCloud database is using the song names but the iCloud data store will save the audio files. You have basically a copy of your database and of your documents folder in iCloud. ST3 will upload all files that are used by at least one song to iCloud and all other devices will download all these files.

Only title and artist are important and if you set them you will never see a song with a filename as the title (well except if you set the filename as the title in the tag).

And regarding song deletion: When there are multiple songs pointing to an audio file, The file will not be deleted when deleting a song. When the audio file is used by only one song, you can specify whether to keep or delete the file.

Regarding the sync problems: The next version will add detailed logging to logfile. I hope I will be able to figure out what is going wrong on your devices when I see the log file.

Example of problem in iCloud .
My song File name is. SONG 1
My changed name of song is SONG X

In i cloud I get SONG 1 & SONG X
This should not happen
I also get multiples of these in some cases 4 same files but not consistent with all songs.

When I create a file in a DAW I export it and name this audio file this file name is then loaded to ST3 folder I refresh the folder and then I go in to song detail and change the name as it normally has the .m4a tag after it so I remove all these tags and sometimes I place a number after the name of song representing versions of same song, the file name never changes, I think now I see why there is confusion iCloud is using song names but the audio files are a different name so it is grabbing the database names and it’s loading audio files that are different to the song names but it can’t work out what goes with what so it’s loading everything.
I wonder if I’m on the right track

In Logic I use bounce to export, it has a Save as function and no other tag prompts like Audacity where it forces you to add the name and artist and lots more stuff, but in Logic bounce mode this is very simple, so how do I get out of this unforeseen pickle?

I totally understand the principle of iCloud as I have used it with all my devices and it works fine but I don’t understand how it’s not working with ST3 as I have simplified it down to 20 songs but I end up with 42 songs I also understand the extra 20 now that you explain how it’s setup but the extra 2 totally different files I do not understand.
Perhaps I’ll chill for a bit till someone stumbles on a workable solution I’m getting in to holiday mode.

Unfortunately when I looked up the link it described how to enable Tag for version 10.7.5 Logic Pro I have version 10.7.7 and this Tag feature does not exist, no wonder I knew nothing about it, which is confusing to why they left it out on my version, you’d think it would be the other way around as my version is newer.
Well that sucks! Nothing makes sense anymore.
Thanks again for your help I really don’t know how I’m going to fix this issue in the long run as I have thousands of files.
