peter thanks Peter I was expecting those answers as I suspected the reasons why things didn’t work the way that they should, it’s not a problem for me.
The PDF auto scroll is understandable as well, I just wanted to point out how things could be a lot simpler if a different approach was used.
Entering complicated data to achieve simple tasks makes the user not use this function.
As long as the PDF users are happy i really don’t need pdfs so I’m fine with it, I just want to make sure whatever is tacked on to ST3 is user friendly.
Open Beta Version 3.5.0

Inconsistancy examples,
When i hit reset lyrics everything dissapeared is this actually a clear lyrics?
When i hit LOAD a file and want to see all my lyrics i have stored in ST3 , where is the LYRICS FOLDER IN ST3? I can find PDF, and MULTITRACK, folder but no Lyrics.
I found a Lyrics folder in ST2 was that always there or did i perhaps create this folder myself i cant remember now its been too long ago.
It seems to make sense to have that available , unless theres a technical reason its not there.
Heres an example of streamlined work flow i expect from complicated software folder system, or something similar.
This gives easy access on first page of ST3 Folder to all important sections the backups are easily found as they are not cluttered with stereo files, everything is just where you expect it to be logical consistant work flow, no confusion or time wasting.

I don't want a delete pdf button in the pdf editor. And a redo for clear is not needed as you already have a cancel button just beside it.
You miss my point, your way is innoficient and unclear, yes it works but it is not user friendly, if there is a technical reason thats fine otherwise it makes no sense to have to work harder when it could be easier.
When you are editing PDF you should not have to leave this area to delete and then load again, Cancel, exit, reenter to simply redo.
Cancle should be exit page and a popup window prompting do you want to save changes this is consitant with other setting windows.
A simple load and redo on the same page you are working in is a lot faster bypasses a number of unnecessary steps and creates a simpler workflow. Lyrics only has this yet PDFs dont, its inconsistant and confusing, unless its a technical thing it makes no sense.
Just pointing it out i wont be affected.
All your questions about the user interface are answered in the manual. Please take a look.
I will not make any changes to existing editors or the new pdf editor. I am happy with the way it works now.
Regarding the file storage clutter: this does mostly originate in the fact that at the beginning of version 3 there were no multitrack files and no pdfs. I can not move stereo files somewhere else because that would break backup file compatibility for older versions.
So, if you find any bugs in the beta, please feel free to report them. But I will not change anything UI related!

Damir I am reporting a bug, if you do this
Go to edit lyrics select the button that gives you the reset lyrics, clear timecode, now hit cancel the page changes but the drop down window remains on screen, this is a bug.
And I genuinely don’t know what the undo button/redo button in top left corner does in Song Details.
I expect not to be using the manual after years of helping develop the app if I have to do that it means the function button is either not clearly labeled or presented in the wrong spot.
In the edit lyrics window this same function button brings down an option window and that’s fine, in the Song Details this button does nothing obvious, is it an actual function button or perhaps a bug? I haven’t time to be reading the manual every time I test things that should be straight forward to understand.
I have just spent time finding out what this button does, and now i understand that it is a reload tags/ waveform Refresh button so why not label it so first time users and long time users that havent used this function get immediate visual feedback to what this does, as it is exactly the same button as in the edit lyrisc window but at least in this window an option appears and you know what you are doing, in the Song Details you have no feedback and have no idea what will happen when you press it, so perhaps a lable next to it REFRESH DATA will be more obvious to ALL users , ST started as a very easy and obvious user interface, it is now becoming more complex yet less obvious user interface, this is my main concearn that it will choke itself by complexity and non consistancy a trap that lots of other software have fallen in.
A great way to measure software desig quality is time spent in manual compared to time spent using the software.
Hi Peter, not sure if possible to change this,
If you set a global time delay say 1 sec is it possible this delay is only applied to the audio and not the video, in other words i would like to see the lyrics at an instant so i am prepared but only the audio is delayed, at the moment both are delayed and if you have imediate start you havent that 1 second to see information on screen which would be really helpful to see to prep for instant start.I really like the orange stop/start button in the delay mode this is great visual help.
Damir Go to edit lyrics select the button that gives you the reset lyrics, clear timecode, now hit cancel the page changes but the drop down window remains on screen, this is a bug.
I will fix this.
Damir If you set a global time delay say 1 sec is it possible this delay is only applied to the audio and not the video, in other words
When this setting is active the action behind the play button is triggered after the delay. Scrolling will only update after the action is triggered.
Observation and suggestion
There is no quick way to tell what setting you are on , appart from examening your playlist and guessing the setting, a tick on the now in use setting is required so we know immediately what we are doing.
This is not a setting. It is an action that reorders your playlist and that's it.
Hi Peter I know I have raised this topic before but after using beta now for over a week I still feel that being able to get to the to the pdf editor should be easier. If say you are working with the iPad in the portrait mode with a pdf single page filling the screen (i.e. playlist hidden thus maximising view of pdf) in order to get to the pdf editor you have to 1) unhide playlist 2) find song on playlist 3) open song details 4) tap on pdf to open editor. Wouldn’t it be possible to have a shortcut somewhere on the pdf lyrics page to take you straight to editor? Perhaps there is already quicker way than the one I described? Many thanks.

New beta build 7500
I think this is the final beta version. Release 3.5 is so far stable and there are only minor bugs found. I will now finish updating the manual and once done, the final version will be released.
Thanks a lot for testing!
Added
- Mute now available as a assignable button command
Changed
- Full page scrolling of PDF files now takes PDF margins into account
- Autoscrolling in PDF documents will try to keep the horizontal position as selected by the user
Fixed
- Keyboard in duration field does not hide when pressing enter
- Reset menu in lyrics editor stays open when pressing Cancel button
DickyDutch Hi Peter I know I have raised this topic before but after using beta now for over a week I still feel that being able to get to the to the pdf editor should be easier.
I will think about this. Maybe a button like the crossfade button?
The button approach feels good. Will be available in the final version or maybe next beta if there are more bugs found in build 7500.
peter Thank you that looks perfect! After editing and saving the mark ups will the screen return back to where it was - the pdf lyrics view?
DickyDutch Yes, but it will scroll back to top.
If you play a standard stero backing track and select AUTO PLAY button then choose the NEXT song to be a LYRICS ONLY song with a TIME SETTING in place, when the stereo backing track finishes it does not obey the auto play request, it basically cues up the next song and stops.
It should choose the next song and auto play as requested.
This is not consistent behaviour.

Select a playlist, then choose the COLOUR option, change the colour of the playlist, you will notice the playlist name on top of screen does not immediately change to this new colour but will be correct if you EXIT playlist then ENTER it again, i know its a small find which hopefully means we dont have other major problems.
I really like the new PLAYLIST EDIT its now a lot more useful.
