So if you are using a mixer that does not have the ability to place effects (limiter, eq, compressor) on the stereo bus, the ability to do that in ST and then just send a ‘mastered’ stereo out to the PA from ST would be a huge benefit.
correct! and ST3 offers this, already, on the master. when Peter first introduced V3 with multitracks (was it 3.4?)
he removed it and i've personally asked to have it back and he did thankfully.
Now i've come to depend on it.
and so we have now a mixer without master FX. but every buss has one....where is that confused emoji?
I'd like to be able to send all my drums to buss1. no processing.
bass to 2. no processing.
etc
then master EQ and the trusty AU compressor/EQ ive come to depend on for a few years now.
its not the same as having everything sent to the buss because with this new mixer i could mute all drums, or lower or raise them. use some EQ and brighten ALL drums in one move.
thats as far as that, my little personal silly request.
Hmmm, can’t agree with this. I use one on our smaller gigs and it is awesome.
I didnt say it is a crap mixer, i said its the worst A&H made. a toy compared to anything else they made.
it is a good little mixer if thats all you need.

MarkGuitar As per my previous post, why would you be fiddling with a mixer whilst performing? OK, the odd corrective tweak, but for the main part, isn’t that what soundcheck is for?
MarkGuitar have to agree here. The idea of getting everything sorted in ten DAW is not entirely possible when exporting multiple-track stems.
You ask, but answer yourself perfectly 🙂
I dont fiddle, but had to yesterday. with ST4 output being 6db higher (i didnt know) and of course
some songs ive extended my stems because i can, and the fact that the graphic EQ is differnet
and the fact that St4 hits the compressor completely differently, you could expect sonically to have many issues.
I dont fiddle with ST3. when i add new songs I do a rough "mix" at home and tweak once on the first time i play
that song, I have a backtrack template and most of my mixes are more or less, this is key, consistent but not exactly the same. this is why the compressor is so important because i found a setting that helps both on the dynamic control
of all my tracks, and also give the sound a certain character. some sort of glue. one that did not translate yesterday well at all.
yes, my fault. but i also got to run it and see what else needed polish, clear from this thread it was valuable to Peter, and to myself, an so at this time instead of putting effort into making the beta my focus, I am going back and bouncing stems for ST3, where prior I may have only had 4 or 5 stems I am now going to make it 8, to later expand for ST4. Ill keep testing it at home, but my bread is being earned using 3.
amd at the absolute worse, ill stick with ST3. it works, its great.
