  • Volume level problem on first beat (mini jack adapter)

Olivier I use iPhone 11 Pro Max with adaptor that has audio out and a usb for charging , all my songs are instant start, and I haven’t noticed any missing or faded audio , I know it’s hard to find apple product with those facilities because it is too sensible but the online purchase of my adaptor seems to work fine, it is Belkin brand. There is so much cheap shit around it’s just pot luck if things actually work properly.
Very sad it has come to this.
Technology gone backwards.
I have bag full of adapters for all sorts of shit I can never find when I need it.
That’s life.
😩

Olivier A USB-c to mini jack adapter works fine. I have used apple, but the strongest and best is a Swedish brand called Linocell. They both work fine. I have not tried an adapter that also charge the iPad, but I started out using a OSB-C to USB 2.0 direct to my mix. That did not work well. Got the same problem that you describe.

I have tried several Bluetooth receivers, Fiio and Xvive, neither could be trusted. The songs would all of the sudden stop for a millisecond, and then start again. Not useable for for gigs.

Thank you for your answers For iPhone pro, the USB-C adapter only exists on the latest version 15. It seems to me that there is no problem with the Lightning port and the mini jack adapter (neither latency at the start nor loss of volume on the first beat). This usb-c adapter seems interesting to me from the Belkin brand that you
mention and which is serious: Adapter BELKIN The problem is that I returned my refurbished iPad Pro 11 because I had 30 days of trial and when I saw that there was latency in Bluetooth and the problem of the first time being less strong with the adapters tested… I should have waited a bit to test with this Belkin or the Apple version even if it does not have simultaneous charging (assuming that the tablet is fully charged before the concert). If I was sure it worked with these usb-c adapters I would recommend the tablet again but I don't mind taking the risk. Does anyone in this community who uses Peter's awesome app have such a setup? iPad with usb-c and adapter? thanks again

On which model of tablet do you use the USBC to mini jack adapter please?

Olivier I use iPad Pro, 5th gen. I use a USB-C to mini jack adapter as I described, and it works perfect. No silencing problem in the beginning. I recommend a cable connection between your iPad and your mix for gigs. Bluetooth will always have some latency, but when the song is running it is not a problem. I would have preferred a wireless connection, but at the moment I haven't found a trustworthy solution.

Olivier ah ok. I use the xvive p3 stereo dongles for count in and back tracking tracks and have had no issues with it so far.
I do use quite a lot of wireless gear on stage that use various frequencies.

Lishy I bought the Xvive P3 as well. Started off working quite nice, then next time, massive problems with interference and noise. Maybe I had a bad pair. Went back to cable, no issues.

Ok thank you for this answer (I don't know if it works as well on the 2018 iPad pro 11 which is more within my budget...)
For information, I find this Bluetooth receiver very reliable: BLUETOOTH Thomann
I use it to put on a Deezer playlist before and after our concert, it runs for hours without dropouts.
The only problem during the concert is that if I leave it on Bluetooth, the low latency there makes us miss all the starts when we start playing our instruments (at the right bpm though) before pressing play to start the arrangement on a 2nd verse or chorus each time, the synchronization is impossible and difficult to anticipate if you try to start reading a little before, you never get it right...

Thank you for all these very interesting discussions.

I would imagine your issue would be fixed with the official Apple connector

          As for wireless audio,
CME who make Widimaster etc have developed a proprietary wireless audio solution,
It isn’t Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and sends the full frequency spectrum and not compressed in any way

These are not available to purchase at the moment but you can sign up for frequent updates and it’s final revision isn’t far away

Do you mean that with your p3 stereo Bluetooth receiver there is no difference in latency with a wired connection?
Does the music start exactly as soon as START is pressed without any ms delay?
If this is the case I will also buy this solution to test…
You only notice this latency if you start playing at the correct bpm before pressing START on a 2nd verse or orchestrated chorus...
            THANKS

Thank you for this interesting information.
I actually regret having returned the iPad pro 11 without having tested a 3rd adapter (the official Apple one - I did not do it because they do not offer a version with USB charging at the same time but only the USB to mini audio jack adapter). If only someone on this forum could confirm to me that it works well with this 2018 iPad 11 pro, I would be ready to recommend it (the more recent versions are out of budget for me unfortunately...).
              THANKS

Olivier well I’m sure there is as it’s bluetooth but none that I can tell. I use it for a count in and visual 1, 2, 3, 4 mainly and don’t notice anything.

Olivier I use Belkin brand with audio and usb charge , no issues, and it’s a well known brand in Australia and available in big stores.

                  THANKS.
But I believe that the adapter you are talking about is on a lightning port, right? With your iPhone 11 Pro Max which you spoke about in a previous message... (if the iPad Pro 11 2018 is a USB-C)

Olivier I thought they had both options in actual fact I was struggling to find lightning option as it was mostly usb c that was available while searching , usb c seems to be the standard now so it should be available.

                      Damir
yes they are available in both options (lightning and usb-c)
What I wanted to say is that with your lightning port I'm not surprised that it works well, it also works with my old iPad Air2 (thanks Peter for being able to maintain compatibility with his application, I I have this tablet because I use a Behringer XR18 sound system and it is the latest version of iOS which seems to work well with it - It is no longer functional since iOS 16 but it is another problem, I move away from the subject)
In short, I'm worried about the same effectiveness of USBC compared to Lightning on this audio adapter thing...

Olivier i see, i happen to have a newer ipad with usb c adapter which i was going to use with ST3 but gave it to my wife and kept the old ipad pro 10.5 because it had the headphone jack, i now always keep a full backup on that ipad incase my good old ipad shitsitself , gets stolen , or gets too far out of date, but i never really tested the usb c adapter for instant start issue, i might fire it up and see if it suffers the problem you have when i get a chance.
I also use XR18 😂 for bigger things but i normally use small yamaha 10ch mini mixer for smaller gigs.

                          Damir
Thank you for your reply. It would be great if you could test occasionally with the usbc adapter on the one you gave your wife, thanks!
iCloud synchronization is really great for quickly finding all our titles on all our iOS devices!
The test would allow you to see if you would be operational directly with this iPad, if your old iPad ever falls ill or is borrowed permanently by a stranger 😅
Besides, which iPad Pro is this? I thought the minimum size was 11 inches for pro and not 10.5? THANKS
