I would love to use multitracks, but ST3 design does not make it worth while.
I am a solo performer to me stereo files are fine but i would only benefit greatly using multitracks if the system was designed for performers that use ST3 in different ways who need lyrics at all times.
Having eight tracks is great , i could segment my songs in to these tracks and thats fine but thats where the usefulness of the multitracks stop when i am on stage i need to bring up the multitrack setup window to use the mutes to manipulate my backing on the run so i can create many different backing ambiances like thinning the song right down and building it up with instruments as the song runs, having solo buttons as well would really give me lots of instant power to paint, but the way the mutes have been designed is for a very specific use which is very limited for lots of users, not all of us just need it to replace a missing musician, this feature has lots more on stage uses, yet when you open the window to use it IT BLOCKS YOUR LYRICS, so that immediately gives it no great value in live performing , instead it could be where song selection column is, as at that moment you are not interested in choosing another song , you are entertaining and creating dynamics and a new feel to a song you have used numerous times on the same audience but you have made it very different every time because you had the capability to do so.
So to me multitracks are not just to use in one particular way they should cater for more demanding users that expect great power on stage thats instant , otherwise i might as well just use my stereo files and looping which already has proven to be a great hit.
Its good to be able to see things from all different perspectives to create something unique and powerful.
To me the old system is not great as it masks your lyrics which is a nightmare to most of us that rely heavily on lyrics and thats why we are using ST3 in the first place.
By placing the controls over the song selection area it gives you the lyrics as well as the power to manipulate not just your loops which is fantastic it also allows you to either mute down your song or just select a solo track you choose, now this is very powerful on stage then when you are done you just hit master clear either solo or mutes and you are back to normal , the volumes are there for quick track tweaks , the name of the instruments you are manipulating are easy to see and none of this manipulation is remembered as its only a temporary painting tool , if you do these tweaks anywhere else than each song remembers all the adjustments.
Now this then becomes a power tool on stage , i then would definitely put in the effort to create multitracks instead of using Stereo tracks as than i have a much bigger advantage on stage.
