Does anyone think that using a MP3 program to normalize my tracks to same levels may of destroyed them ?
Files missing when syncing from source eg iTunes to stage tracks 3
I'm going to have to upset Peter and agree with NeilC.
If you read my post [(https://support.stagetraxx.com/d/914-retaining-a-song-in-a-playlist-after-updating-it/1)] I too have had the problem of files failing to import or importing with a time of 0, etc. It's not because you normalized the songs. I had these errors with MP3 files all the time so I tried going with M4A files but it started doing the same albeit less frequently.
@NeilC this happens when you import all the iTunes files in one go. I think you should avoid using iTunes as a go-between step. The problem with iTunes is the number of times you have to store a track. You need your source files on PC, then you have to load them into iTunes, then hope they sync correctly. Then you have to import them from iTunes into Stage Traxx.
There are other (maybe seemingly more difficult) ways to get the files into the iPad without iTunes or USB. The problem is, and I'll create a video to show it, even if you import over a network connection which is how I do it, or from iCloud, you will get the same problem if you are importing that many files in one go.
That's the problem. I believe from a programmatic point of view that it is an overload of the import process.
I didn't pursue this in my post because it was me against the world.
But there are ways that work around this, and that's what you have to do to put bread on the table.
I'd say the best way to get a large number of songs in without error is to copy them directly into the Stage Traxx 3 folder via Files app on your iPad.
Don't use ST3's import. That's where I believe the problem is. But, if you really want to do it that way, import songs in batches of 30.
Probably the easiest way to get them directly into the ST3 folder, as PC user, is to use OneDrive or DropBox. (I use an SMB network connection over WiFi, but that's not for everyone.) Put all your songs on the cloud. Then, link up access to whatever cloud you use in iPad's Files app. Then in files app, copy over all the songs into the Stage Traxx 3 folder, ie. "On My iPad". After that, go into ST3 and pull down the song list which will trigger a refresh and effectively import your songs..
Completely agree with @MasterAnt. Ditch iTunes for song mangement if you can. As you are using Windows you still need it for file transfers but try to stick to iTunes Filesharing. Just drag and drop your mp3 Files via iTunes filesharing into Stage Traxx 3 and then refresh the song list in ST3: https://stagetraxx.com/user-guide/songs/#refresh-song-list
Be cautious with Dropbox. The iOS integration into the Files app is a bit buggy. Stage Traxx does often get notifications about finished downloads too early and that results in empty files being imported from Dropbox. iCloud Drive works much better and is way cheaper ($1 per month for 50GB storage).
Anyway, stick to transfering audio files directly. Putting them into iTunes first is an unnecessary additional step which will also downgrade audio quality as ST3 needs to transcode them during import from iTunes.
And regarding your missing song problem with ST2 after messing around with your iTunes library, please follow these guidelines: https://support.stagetraxx.com/d/500-missing-songs

Is there any chance someone can ring me today to help me resolve this I do not know how to use file sharing I’m slowly loosing my mind over this and very concerned I have gigs coming up on weekend and seriously need to get this resolved I’m at my wits end
i have sent you my mobile Peter in original support contact email.
I agree ITunes is not stable enough or reliable I joined Dropbox yesterday and now I’m going to cancel it after hearing it to doesn’t work reliable enough with st3
This is a major concern when we spend a lot of money on quality backing tracks and need to keep everything safe, I’d like to thank everyone who as commented and I truly appreciate your help and support.
Please someone help me resolve this
I have deleted ST3 from iPad so far 3 times
I have tried to load it up after rebuilding my library
I have checked all I’d tags have Artist and sing name etc I’m desperate here guys.
I do not understand file sharing I been using iTunes for 17 years and have had issues in past but never this bad

I'm sorry, I do not offer phone support.
Apple has a very nice tutorial on using iTunes Filesharing: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201301
Just take a look at it. It is really easy to use.
Hi Peter, I understand you don’t use phone support
Though I’m pretty good with tech but I’m struggling here after spending days hours trying to resolve this I have done everything that you say and other guys have recommended. I just looked at file sharing document with apple, so is it just case of dragging and dropping files from the original location ? Eg my hard drive and not iTunes playlists I’ve created in it iTunes
Yes, just select Stage Traxx 3 in the iTunes Filesharing dialog and drag and drop your mp3 files into it. They will be copied into the Stage Traxx 3 folder on your iPad and then you start ST3 and refresh the song list. All done. Now all songs will show up. Then you can create playlists in ST3 and add these songs to the playlists.
Whenever you need to update a file, again just drag and drop it in to the filesharing box. It will overwrite the file on your iPad. Then refresh the songlist so that ST3 is aware of the changes and you are done.

peter i just fired up my old PC laptop and yes its all coming back,Peter is on the ball as usual,
Plug in your ipad to your PC , make sure it is discovered by PC, OPEN UP ITUNES, and select ipad, then choose file sharing there you will see ST3 as an option choose that , then select add file, now this will give you option to find the file where you should have stored all your backing tracks, select them all and hit save that should transfer all your tracks in to ipad ST3 folder, this might take some time if you have lots of files, then just open ST3 song mode pull down the creen to refresh all the files in to your ST3 song database, and from then on say goodby to itunes forever , thank lord.
Create your playlist and go and earn some much deserved cash.
Good luck! This blody technology is moving too fast , no one has time anymore to create something that works simply and perfectly without a need for an update .
Perhaps i should look for an update button on our wives you never know they might have put one in without telling us.
Thank you Damir, and Peter I will try this file sharing option but before I do I will add All my backing-tracks to one folder keep that as master folder,
Thing I’m concerned is lyrics etc as I’ve added all my lyrics in songs etc from previous playlists that have got corrupt?
It’s one headache for sure, Peter as produced a brilliant application but technology is moving to fast and everyone gets so out of date so quickly.
Lol at update with Wife
I noticed to when iTunes has your tracks after importing them the volume lowers a lot ?
Hopefully using file sharing option may solve this. I keep you all in the loop it will take me till end week to get it sorted my pc is fast but I have my work cut out creating individual playlists then in the iPad on ST3 will they be rock solid then ? or will my Data base Master Folder on PC of my backing tracks main source be my Master and don’t use ITunes playlist creator ?
Thank you mate for your help and support
I have noticed there are a few M4a files in this file share as I drag and dropped a lot of my backing tracks
Will ST3 still recognize them and will iPad play them as they ain’t MP3 ?
NeilC good advice, once you transfer your files to ST3 folder stay away from itunes and music completely, load all your songs to ST3 and you wont look back, i have all my music on ST3 including my listening songs my backing tracks, my DJing songs, its just that much simpler, safer, faster to do everything MUSIC playback related and its simply fullybacked up and works on all the important devices imac, ipad, iphone.
ST3 is an Absolute no brainer if you rely heavily on music.
Good luck with the gig, i have a wedding coming up , cant wait i am sooo ready to gig again and have so many tricks up my sleve using ST3 i cant wait.
I have used File sharing I dragged loads of my files backing tracks into it and went into the ST3 app and pulled down the screen in songs and I only pulled in 6 songs ???
I guess you need to unlock the full version purchse. Open the settings tab, select In App Purchases and then tap on "Restore Purchases". You need to do that whenever you reinstall the app. After this step, refresh the songlist again and all remaining songs will be added.

These are the files you imported through iTunes. As I wrote above ST3 needs to transcode these iTunes files and stores them as m4a files. ST3 can play multiple file formats. So it does not really care if a file is mp3 or m4a. But keep in mind, if you have a mp3 version and a m4a version of a song, it will be displayed as 2 identical songs in ST3. You will only see a difference in the song details (different filename).
peter yes I had to unlock it again after removing it uninstalled it about 4 times now
I just created a test playlist brand new dragged in files from iTunes playlist to test if all these songs would come in to iTunes Player and it didn’t even bring in all the songs ??
I have apple support technician specialist helping me as well we are doing loads of tests
You can only add songs to a playlist in ST3 that you have already imported. It will not show any songs from iTunes. You should see all the songs you have copied via iTunes filesharing.
I have worked with Apple specialist and we reset iPad to factory settings
Songs and playlists are working fine in iTunes / Music App. Although when loading to ST3 the app skips songs without any error for example if we load content from a playlist that has 9 songs, ST3 only loads 6 songs, without any error, forcing me to add the missing ones manually
Any suggestions where to go from here ??
Well, I would import all songs and then start building playlists in ST3 and editing lyrics.
Hi Peter, I may go back to Stage Tracks Classic
Just to get my gigs up and running.
I tried the file sharing and it only brought in 6 songs on ST3 I pulled the app down to refresh it nothing happened, just sane 6 songs.
I’m exhausted over this and so tired
As for editing my lyrics that’s a workload in it itself I have huge library of not far from 1000 backing-tracks
I have spent a lot of time over the years adding editing lyrics into songs. Hours and hours, weeks and so much
Involved doing this.
I can’t see a fix to this I believe there is a fault with the application like I said above I have exhausted myself I been on this since last week rebuilt my iTunes playlists from scratch.
ST3 will not import iTunes playlists like the Classic StageTracks did diff many years.
I just don’t know where to go from here I have tried everything even had to reset my iPad as it was showing error messages of songs not importing to do with different regions this country does not support this file. That’s why we had to reset iPad. Apple specialist as spent Hours on phone today and yesterday.
Kind regards
Neil C
You have built a fantastic App but I just can’t get it to work.

Did you do that after restoring your In App Purchase? If yes, please attach a screenshot of the Stage Traxx 3 folder either in iTunes filesharing or in the iOS Files app.

You can still import playlists and ST3 will also create playlists on the fly from these imports but I strongly recommend against building your playlists in iTunes. Do this in ST3 directly.

Do you have an Apple Music subscription? This might be the root cause for all your problems. Stage Traxx (old and new) can not play or import songs from the subscription as they contain copy protection.
