  • New YouTube Channel with tutorial videos

I have created a new YouTube Channel to publish tutorial videos for Stage Traxx. This is something that has often been requested.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVLLXZiMcmw2G_2keRQ57zw

The first video is online and is a Getting Started Guide showing you the basics of Stage Traxx:

https://youtu.be/UTNrbxgmqPw

I plan to publish a new video weekly or biweekly. Next on up is a video about library and playlist management. Then lyrics editing and autoscrolling. After that I am open for suggestions.

Please leave me your feedback here. I am still learning how to create these videos and it is currently quite a lot trial and error. So there is definitely room for improvement. Also please tell me if you have any topics I should explain in a video.

    peter stickied the discussion .

peter Hi Peter, just seen your first Utube Video, great job! It sounds like you did it in one take and the video editing is very nice.
Suggestion (of course) i cant help myself.
What i think would be really good is to have a first video of a simple explanation of what ST3 is and does for the new potential users.
This video feels to me should be the 1st of tutorial videos, and its great, but i would have created a sales introduction video first to explain to fist time potential users what ST3 is about, what will it do for them, where can it be used, on Stage, solo artists, bands,at parties, in concerts, DJ, and any others, very general explanation but more concentrated to explain to users what they can use this software for, once you have your audiance interested as they have an idea of what ST3 is, then you start the detailed explanation videos.
Dont forget the already ST3 users dont need these videos we already know its power, you need the first video to explain to absolute new users to quickly decide if its for them or not, once you have convinced them they need this software then you give them the simple walk through then a much more in depth stuff in later videos.
Basically im saying have a sales video first only then the instruction videos.
ST3 is very usable as just a songs storage software not just musicians on stage but general people need to be explained this in the introduction video that opens their eyes to the potential of this software, a whole new market is out there you just need to present it to the world, and boast about it. There are a lot worse software out there that are well advertised and people are using the crap you have a great program that can do so much if only people knew about it.
    Suggestion when creating a video.
Write down everything you are going to say use an autocue app, no use ST3 lyrics only feature like an auto cue set a scroll speed and youre done (perfect) there, i found another use for ST3 (Autocue), play your text near the camera, keep the speed nice and slow and relaxed without stutter or umming and ering , once you have a really good audio track create your video to the audio it will end up much more pleasant to listen to for longer videos , it takes a bit more work but a much better result can be achieved, some little mistakes are ok as it gives it natural flavour , you dont want it to be overproduced as it can put some users off, they might think its a good sales pitch but the product is not so good, a good balance is the best , you are almost there with the first video it just needs a little more polish to be perfect.
In the introduction perhaps mention you are the creator of this software and explain a bit to why you have created this software mainly for but what it also can do for so many other users if they wish to try it, this then immediately makes them understand what ST3 is about.
If you start talking technically straight away it might frighten potential users away as it might seem to hard to understand, you need to entise them to try it first, give them information where they can download the app at begining and end of the introductary video.
Sell it first explain how it works second.
Dont forget potential users might stumble on the utube video and have no clue to what it is but might really benefit from it if they gave it a go.
I like the Auto cue facility on ST3 i dont need another app now, its great!
You could say this app is becoming a pocket Swiss knife , a must have app.
So nice to finaly see and hear you.

Great Job Peter.& I totally agree with Damir regarding a selling/intro video into your amazing app.i am looking forward to more tutorials.watching how to do videos will really help as sometimes its difficult to get things correct when reading the online tutorial & its got to be better for dudes who are not that good with computers.THANK YOU.

Thank you guys! I will do a marketing video at some point but I first need more experience with the whole video making process because a selling video must have excellent looks, excellent tone and excellent presentation. I need a couple more tutorial videos to get results I am satisfied with and after that I will try to make a selling video.

I already make notes what to show in the video and have them on the computer screen before me. Heck even all preparation steps are there: turn camera on, turn audio recorder on, turn screen recording on, show white balance card,...

And yes, I did forget to turn on every one of those items in one of the recordings 😉.

I have just released part 2 of the tutorials. Parts 3 and 4 are already filmed and need cutting. I will settle for weekly releases each Wednesday.

peter it would be great to have a link to all your videos in ST3 settings next to help forum and manual.

Yes, I will do that once most topics are covered.

Love the YouTube channel idea and tutorials. While I have been using ST3 for about a year.....still learned some new things watching the first two videos.

        Thanks Peter!!!

I love the videos, already learned things I didn’t know before, such as the song list width can be adjusted!

        Hi Peter,
I’ve had several aborted attempts at using this in my stage act. I’ll be looking at these with great interest.

peter DONE marker can be cleared independent of song history

Also works and is a great help, the spacing between Reset DONE Clear is confusing,
perhaps a larger space between them Reset DONE Clear might help, or capitals on one and lower case on other RESET DONE Clear or perhaps Reset DONE CLEAR or Reset DONE / Clear or whatever would help at the moment my first impression was, what's going on here? and I shouldn't be having this thought at all specially when knowing what to expect.
        Sorry for the long wrap.

peter thanks so much Peter for all your help ,
I’m new to stage Traxx what a brilliant app for the musician just a question can this app be downloaded for android application.
        Regards John

If you haven't seen them, Scott Uhl has a great 3 part overview of StageTraxx 3 here:https://youtu.be/hdaaBINlx2o
        That's what brought me here!

peter Thanks Peter, I’ve just watched your back up and restore video, very helpful cheers! Just need to resolve the history and highlighting issue when auto play is used now, as per other thread topic, when you are able to address this of course? Much appreciated Peter, thank you.

Always a good Idea to set up a YouTube channel I have just started mine for my Simian Mobile Disco website uploading video clips of us at DJ gigs seems like a good way to either show tutorials or show your business services.
