RichieC Is there any way of adjusting the text size on the client IPAD. Adjusting the text size on the host has no affect on the client which seems to be a fixed size. It might be a nice feature to have it adjustable - what do you think?

The font size is adjustable on the master. But the font size is only sent to the client when you select a song. So if you change the font size for the current song, you will need to select another song and reselect the original song for the font size to be sent to the clients.

If you use automatic scrolling without timestamped lyrics, the font size has a direct impact on the scrolling behavior. Therefore I decided to not allow font size changes on the client.

I had a good rehearsal this morning using the server/client and everything looks good and is behaving very nicely. I love being able to move locations and not be stuck in front of the server ipad. I can see myself finally getting a wireless headset and having a couple of ipads on stands ar different locations onstage just so I can vary the look of the performance a bit - watching a performer always in one position can get dull after a while. Thanks for making this available! Now you need to market it.

Tested latest beta for Clock fix and Blinking at end of song. Works as expected. One other minor glitch. When StageTrax is running it overrides the display timeout/autolock. The slave session is not overriding, so after a break or 2min (if that was the selected timeout/autolock), then it would be necessary for the user to unlock the display.

Just tested with iRig BlueBoard with the four buttons assigned as follows:
A=Selection Up -- worked, Next Song footer changed correctly
B=Selection Down -- worked. Next Song fotter changed correctly
C=Scroll Speed Up - DID NOT WORK, NO EFFECT ON SLAVED IPAD
D=Scroll Speed Down -- DID NOT WORK, NO EFFECT ON SLAVED IPAD

On the slaved session, the

The display timeout needs to be disabled in the settings. So if you do this on the slave iPad, it will not lock the screen.

The scroll speed setting is like the font size setting only transferred when you switch to a new song. I don't expect anyone to change these settings during a live gig.

Yes, I figured as much. I'll just set to Never on slave IPAD.

I DO sometimes adjust scroll speed particularly on a new track. Will just have to discipline myself to get it properly adjusted before trying Live.

We had exchanged emails on some features, will any of them be rolled into this release? Or shall I document them in the Features section?

I will add some minor features to this release from my todo list but I don't know if these features have been requested by you.

One feature requested by you already implemented in the beta is the + chord modifier. Another feature I will add is the panic midi function.

Thanks, those two were mine. Also, echo last Midi string transmitted in lyrics pane as in the transpose feature.

Release Candidate Build 3857

OK, there has been only one crash with the last beta version so far which I think I have fixed. I also implemented a couple of more features and now this release is feature complete.

This build has the following changes:

  • Utility menu has a new entry to send MIDI Panic
  • Utility menu may now be opened with a reduced set of actions during playback
  • Double tap on playlist item to select it and start playback immediately
  • Transposed songs will show a transposition indicator in the playlist
  • Fixed a possible crash when opening a playlist with no valid songs

If there are no new issues with this version, this will be the final 2.10 build. Thanks a lot for your help so far!

Hi Peter tried the new beta build this afternoon and didn't have any functional problems - by the way I do like the new double click function to select and start play! One thing I've noticed though is that with songs that are transposed the red Tranposed label only appears on the host screen and not the client. Is this an oversight or intentional? For completeness I think it ought to show on the client(s) as well - what do you think?

I did leave out the transposition indicator intentionally. To be honest, I consider the transposition feature only a temporary practice helper. The quality is fine for rehearsals but in my opinion not good enough for gigs. So if I really need to transpose a song in the long term, I use a high quality transpose algorithm in my daw and import this is another song. That way I can also have the chords transposed.

I will wait and see how the feedback will be. If there is a large demand to display the transposition in the clients, I will add it.

Looks good. Thanks for the MIDI panic button implementation....quick!...as it should be. Any thoughts on that echo'ing the midi string? I still have a track now and then that isn't properly setting the midi patch or cc message. Would be nice to see exactly what it does. I have my wireless BT-01 mounted in my 21 space midi rack, which is loaded in the truck. To trouble shoot would have to unload and set up, or buy an additional BT01 and use midi-ox to see what it's doing.

peter I agree, if I need to transpose I just build a new MP3 file.

peter - Peter I use the transposition feature quite a bit and have noticed that the quality is good enough on some songs to use them for gigs. It would be great to have the ability to make good qulaity transpostions. If that isn't possible can I ask you to do - for a fee of course - and send the, back to me? Just wondering. If not do you know someone who does that?

I have used Audacity which is a free download. Of course you have to understand that when transposing down, that the lower the key , the greater chance the low end starts sounding "wonky"... ( if that's a word) LOL.

I know what you mean "wonky". I have found that the drums are the first to go. The snare and bass lose their integrity fast.

Drum sound really hurts badly when transposing. You either loose the punch or you get that "wonky" undefined sound. I use Logic as a DAW and it has qute good transposition algorithms. What also works well is the app Capo.

Developing a good quality transposition algorithm is not possible for me. The development effort would be much higher than all the time I put into Stage Traxx up to now so far. Therefore commercial algorithms are quite expensive. I got quotes starting in the 4-figure range. I don't make enough sales to justify such an expense.

But here is a recommendation for good quality customizable playbacks: http://karaoke-version.com

The offer individual playbacks where you can choose which tracks they should contain and also whether they should be transposed.

JDSMUSIC Any thoughts on that echo'ing the midi string?

I am aware that this would be a nice addition but I have investigated how to do this properly and found the effort too large to make it into this release. I always need to keep an eye on the time spent so far with developing this release and take care not to overdo it. So I am afraid I can not implement this feature in version 2.10. I'm sorry.

peter Ditto on karaoke-version.com. Peter is referring to their Custom Backing Tracks. This is what I use.

peter re: echo midi. Thanks Peter. Being a retired Oracle software engineer, I understand.
