peter I agree and disagree yes you need to make it nice for people that don’t use loops but use them as a reference , but No for those that don’t need a waveform but actually use the loops themselves I think there must be a way to suit both .
I still don’t like the loops in ST4 the way they are for number of reasons, they need to go all the way from left to right of screen at all times and would be spaced together more tightly not to waste space, the logic of operation needs fixing a bit,
Suggestion
in settings you give us a choice to show one full waveform or the loops themselves only or a combination for all those that need different views, you also include enable disable operation of loops so you can’t accident ally change them for those that want full safety.
I would get rid of the unnecessary Queue button to make more room for the current song naming area , this song name area to be used as a song position area indicator which changes background progressively to indicate where you are in the song NOTHING ELSE it’s just an hourglass indicator that has the name of song superimposed on top of it.
QUEUE option is unnecessarily confusing and it should be simple , you either use Queue method of operating or the playlist method , this should be an option in settings , both ways of running don’t appear to change anything visually on screen it just changes the behaviour of how you playlists operate NOTHING ELSE, in queue mode you have your SONG and your PLAYLIST just like in PLAYLIST method of operating , you simply create your playlists and choose the method those playlists behave it’s one way or the other Simple to choose and no unnecessary buttons on the screen.
To scroll through a song in STOP mode give us a nice big indicator to grab in the audio segment area that pops up in the middle of the screen you slide left or right through the song position, the exact spot in a song is always in this middle of screen , outside this position you are moving and activating loops as normal , but the Center of the screen is always your playhead, so basically I am saying you are moving the audio file around the playhead not the normal way of playhead moves through the song length this gives you less need for space to manipulate audio positioning,
In play mode the option to move through the song disappears and you only use the loop buttons if you have allowed them to do so in settings.
the upper area to indicate SONG, PLAYLIST, AUTO PLAY, SETTINGS and SONG NAME, the behaviour of playlists is a choice in settings ,eliminating confusion as the interface is the same but only its behaviour changes.
SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND and use.
I have more but am out of time.
