No, quite the opposite. Version 4 will be able to connect via wifi to midi sessions running on another device.

I’m sorry if I’m a bit thick but how is that different to what it’s currently doing. I embed MIDI in to lyrics and my pc receives this data over WiFi with the help of a free program called RTP MIDI.

Can you elaborate a little on what is coming regarding MIDI over WiFi please.

ST3 always supported sending MIDI over RTP. But there was no support for connecting to a running RTP session on another device. This feature will be available in ST4. So you can connect to a running RTP session without the need of another tool like RTP MIDI.

      That's the plan, but remote control has nothing to do with rtp midi.

      Not sure if we are following each other, but I control stop and play on st3 via rtp midi on my laptop. If you are saying that I can create a session with 2 pads and send MIDI over WiFi, without the need for my laptop, well that’s great.

      Will this be possible, the stop and play, song select commands embedded in lyrics on one pad triggering the associated songs on another remote pad or Mac running st3?

      I'm sorry, I still don't know what you want to know. This thread is about Stage Cue. The midi implementation in ST4 will not change compared to ST3. It will only be extended with additional functionality. If you can do something in ST3 it will still be possible to do it in ST4. For anything further please wait for when testing with version 4 starts and then you can give your feedback.

      I’m asking a simple question I think, will a MIDI song select command embedded in lyrics on an iPad running st4 be received by another iPad running st4, both iPads connected to the same WiFi network.

        Kevtyler That would certainly solve some issues, I would also like to see it play nice with Ableton and other DAWS etc.

            I like to have my desk out of the way, since apple ditched the headphone jack, you are now obliged to mess about with adaptors and charge enabled adaptors. Having an iPad front of stage talking to a pad sitting on top of your desk would be brilliant, don’t you think. .

              If anyone is following this, master and slave control is currently possible with 2 instances of st3 if windows is running rtp MIDI and bome MIDI translator all on the same wireless network. I’m just suggesting that this would be fantastic if it was possible without the need for a pc. I’m not deliberately trying wind anyone up.

              Hi, I didn't read through the entire thread, but I will say that this would be an excellent feature to wrap inside Stage Traxx. There is a hardware unit called the M-Live B-Beat which is a great standalone unit. I think you could absolutely steal that entire market by having StageTraxx compete as an ipad app.

              In my opinion video playback needs a completely different UI than audio playback. I don't want to create a monster app that does everything in a horrible way. Better have different apps with a different focus that can easily work together.

              Ho Peter. I use BBeat (backing traks and video) but I think that the work you are doing on Stage Cue is great!!! Interworking between st3 and stage Cue will make the two a great solution for many little bands. I have st3 on mini Mac and I will download also stage Cue. I will try to make them work together on mini Mac (I understood a sync is now possibile). What I think will make the difference will be the Facility to sync audio and video. On Bbeat is not easy.               Hi everybody. I installed stage cue on mini Mac and when I try to select IPad in the network midi session area I see the iPad but I am not able to select it. Even trying with iPhone where i have st3 I see the iPhone but I cannot select it. instead using iPhone with stage cue and iPad with stage 3 it works.

              You are right. I also see the same issue on the Mac. I will take a look at it in the coming days.
