Interested in a simple soundboard like video playback app?

I am aware of Qlab but I don't want to have a laptop on stage and Qlab is way too expensive for what we need.

Yeah.. I'm lucky that one of my musicians work in a theater, so we can use QLAB for free 😉

However, I signed up for the beta test phase. The app looks very promising to me! Do you plan to insert some automatic transitions between videos? Like fade in/out.. that would be perfect!

No, automatic transitions are not on my todo list. That would require too much time which I don't want to invest at the moment. Maybe once Stage Traxx 4 is released.

Peter, really like this as an add on to what I so with ST3. As you may recall I designed a midi controlled micro controller to control a pc to do this same thing using PowerPoint a few years ago, it works but is clumbersome. This does exactly what I wanted that to do but easily.

I can certainly see a market among solo acts and small bands tor this so I’ve signed up to the beta.

I agree though that you prioritise ST4 first but I’ll still test it out and make suggestions where appropriate.

Thanks for your feedback. I will keep the beta rolling until I find some time to release it. So far there seem to be no bugs. So it is basically ready for release. I just lack the time to create a website, make promotion screenshots and write a documentation. So when I need some days off from ST4, I will do those things. Maybe around christmas. Until then I will release small updates here and there to keep the beta from timing out.

I needed a break from Stage Traxx and have now made Stage Cue compatible with macOS. The new build 56 has been uploaded to Apple and is now waiting for review. I will write here once it is available. You can download it via Testflight on the Mac.

On Mac the app opens an additional video output window that you can place on whatever screen you like. It is also possible to open multiple video output windows (cmd + n, or Files > New) so that you could output the video in multiple connected screens.

Everything else is identical. To move your video board from one app to another, just copy the contents of the Stage Cue folder.

With relation to your comments about MIDI over WiFi and version 4 of st3, is something going to change ?.

I’ve been using ST3 to send wireless MIDI with a basic router to my pc for years now, I never hear anyone on here discuss this much, but I hope it’s not a feature we will lose in future.

No, quite the opposite. Version 4 will be able to connect via wifi to midi sessions running on another device.

I’m sorry if I’m a bit thick but how is that different to what it’s currently doing. I embed MIDI in to lyrics and my pc receives this data over WiFi with the help of a free program called RTP MIDI.

Can you elaborate a little on what is coming regarding MIDI over WiFi please.

ST3 always supported sending MIDI over RTP. But there was no support for connecting to a running RTP session on another device. This feature will be available in ST4. So you can connect to a running RTP session without the need of another tool like RTP MIDI.

That's the plan, but remote control has nothing to do with rtp midi.

Not sure if we are following each other, but I control stop and play on st3 via rtp midi on my laptop. If you are saying that I can create a session with 2 pads and send MIDI over WiFi, without the need for my laptop, well that’s great.

Will this be possible, the stop and play, song select commands embedded in lyrics on one pad triggering the associated songs on another remote pad or Mac running st3?

I'm sorry, I still don't know what you want to know. This thread is about Stage Cue. The midi implementation in ST4 will not change compared to ST3. It will only be extended with additional functionality. If you can do something in ST3 it will still be possible to do it in ST4. For anything further please wait for when testing with version 4 starts and then you can give your feedback.

I’m asking a simple question I think, will a MIDI song select command embedded in lyrics on an iPad running st4 be received by another iPad running st4, both iPads connected to the same WiFi network.

I like to have my desk out of the way, since apple ditched the headphone jack, you are now obliged to mess about with adaptors and charge enabled adaptors. Having an iPad front of stage talking to a pad sitting on top of your desk would be brilliant, don’t you think. .
