For me CDG is an outdated format (from the end of the 80s). It was in the middle between laser disc and DVD. You needed special karaoke players, Phillips CD-i players or a cheap asian DVD-player. Or meanwhile special softwares like kjams or karafun. I collected karaoke-files for over 25 years, but about 20 years ago we converted CDGs to modern (standard)formats like mp3+g or to a video format (mpg, mp4). For me CDG is a very basic video format, the lyrics can not be edited (in stage Traxx), because they are converted to pixels. So if you have a good working system with 2000 files, I would not see a reason to switch to stagetraxx. I have a professional karaoke-system with more than 20.000 songs, but the only thing I use are the audios of some songs (after converting) with self edited lyrics.
