DickyDutch when I turned on iCloud sync I got a window message do I want to send or receive to the iCloud database once I made a choice the app shuts down.
Open Beta Version 3.7.0
Good morning Peter
One of my pads is too old to be allowed in to the testflight so I can’t test the features added to networked sessions. So on my new iPad I want to see what the new midi functions are. Are actions 1 and 2 up and running yet. I’ve found them in playback settings but I’m not sure how you actually associate them to a button in st3. Sorry to bother you but can you explain how these new midi features can be used please.
Many thanks
KeV

Damir hi damir, does this new feature allow you to edit on all of one’s iPads without destroying your work with a careless restore. ? I have two pads, I edited a dozen songs on one pad, then edited a few songs on the other, then forgot which versions were the newest.
Does the app now inform you which songs are newest?
Cheers.

Kevtyler hi Kev the new iCloud sync is so new that I have managed to get it working partly I get all the database on both devices but the actual audio does not seem to work I am not sure if my iPad is not supplying iCloud or is iCloud not supplying my iPhone all I know is audio files are not moving from one device to the other , only Peter can fix this , but once it works correctly we are hoping it won’t matter what device you do your work on all synced devices will be automatically updated as you work so basically it will be like having one work platform but it’s up to you which device you want to use to work with , this is absolutely brilliant as it gives us so much freedom.
But it’s a matter of getting it working as it’s just come out.
Hopefully Peter the magician can find another rabbit in the hat.
Regarding accidental restore, my plan is once I have created enough new work tha would upset me if I lost it I would rewrite my full backup that’s stored in a totally separate folder to ST3 this would protect me in case things went pare shape I can always restore last full backup and every so often I would update my main performing device restore on my iMac and my iCloud this gives me plenty of safety.
The beauty of having instant iCloud sync is if you run 3 devices like I do iPad for main performance iPhone for backup/background music IMac as nice home editor , they are always in sync and act as a great backup device to each other so if you smash or lose one portable device you always can recover without too much pain, and the workflow will be so much faster and convenient.
Good luck fingers xed we get it working soon.
I am about to try my IMac and see how I go.
Cheers Damir

Damir Thanks for testing the other features. I will change the naming on duplicate songs.
DickyDutch So you did not see the dialog asking you if you want to upload or download from the iCloud?
Kevtyler Are actions 1 and 2 up and running yet. I’ve found them in playback settings but I’m not sure how you actually associate them to a button in st3
These actions need to be triggered. You can do that by either changing the assignable buttons to midi mode (in user interface settings) or you can assign these to your pedals.
I think most of the issues with iCloud are caused by the lack of feedback. Everything happens automatically but with larger libraries it takes time and when you don't see what is happening, you are left hanging. So I will try to add something like a progress bar.
Oh and iCloud does prevent data loss from a failed iPad but it does not prevent dataloss from user errors (like deleting a song). So it might be a good idea to create a backup file now and then anyway.

iCloud update, i am noticing no change in my iCloud memory which to me means my iPad is not sending the audio files to iCloud from my iPad which explains why no other devices are receiving them.
The other thing I did is I loaded a new song in text editor with lyrics on my iMac and both my ipad and iPhone received them , but then I deleted the text on iPhone and nothing happened on the other two devices , I tried resyncing the devices but my iMac crashed a number of times while doing this , I have had the iPhone crash while resyncing it so something is definitely not functioning properly , it might be due to the fact no audio songs are not present I don’t have damn computer language understanding so good luck Peter this one appears to be a big bug.
It’s now 4hours since the iCloud process started to populate my iPhone but there are still many missing songs (red).
peter No not the first time I did it but I’ve seen it since when toggling the iCloud button.
I have just switched off and back on the iCloud sync button my iPhone and noticed that all the songs and presumably data have been deleted. Is this normal? I am now waiting to see if all songs will be progressively restored from the cloud over night.
peter Thanks for the hard work and continued improvements!!
(got a virtual tip jar anywhere?)

Hi Peter, has the font or font formatting changed as the lyrics are definitely closer together and maybe a little smaller in both the editor and play view? Text size on both is the same at 22 pt.
Also what’s the difference between increasing default font size and the device size modifier?
DickyDutch If you select the download option, then yes, your local songs are deleted to download everything from the cloud.
Lishy No, font settings have not changed and are the same as before.
Default font size: https://stagetraxx.com/user-guide/settings/#default-font-size
Device size modifier: https://stagetraxx.com/user-guide/settings/#device-size-modifier
You are using the fixed width font in the lower image but not in the upper image.
I think I found the problem why database changes are synced but not files. It seems that some settings I made in the iCloud developer dashboard are only applied to my account and I need to do these settings directly in the app instead. Without these setting file transfers are not possible.
So please wait for the next update. I hope I can release it tomorrow.
And the crash reports I received so far will also be fixed tomorrow.
Thanks so much Peter.
I’m having a few issues with how my pc responds to st3 vs how it responds to touch osc. I’ll be back with a question when I can figure out how to express my issue to you. Many thanks.
