Lishy Not for me. It is sent exactly when playback stops (after a fade out for example). Make sure have not assigned the same command to the stop trigger in settings or in your lyrics.

peter Hi Peter, it was not a single backup that was faulty. I tried creating 5 different backups using ST3.6.10. I could not open any of them from the beta 3.7 (8751).

I am using an 2023 M2 MacBook Pro (1tb/ 32gb RAM) running macOS 13.2.1 (22D68)

amorph Can you open a database only backup in the beta? The backup file is basically just a zip. So if you rename the file ending to .zip can you extract the file in Finder?

iCloud sync fully works offline. It will remember what you do and sync those changes to the cloud once your are online again.

Damir Thanks Damir, I completely agree. I have redundant copies of everything...40 TB of drives on my desktop and redundant copies off site, etc.

I do not plan to use the iCloud feature with ST3. I don't want to reliant on internet access for performances. I mirror my laptop to an M.2 drive in my equipment rack, so that I can boot from that in an emergency. I have all my sound libraries on a 2nd M.2 drive in the rack as well.

You are blessed to be able to afford and carry all of those additional devices with you. Seems like a very expensive work around. I am very concerned about the multiple failures I experienced trying to create/restore from a full backup. This bottleneck for data recovery seems like a significant design flaw IMHO.

I actually only take my IPad and my iPhone as backup on all my gigs a compact Yamaha 4000watt Pa consists of 2 twelve inch 1000w 2 way boxes and 2 twelve subs 1000w each that also act as speaker stands and a Yamaha little 10 ch mixer that has usb connectivity but I use only analog outs as it has professional cannons on outputs , very simple and affordable but kicks ass for most my gigs , some gigs I don’t need the pa as it’s provided so I just use my Yamaha mixer to a large console . I always like to control my own sound on stage and off stage with another engineer just overlooking my sound for the front house if I have a bigger gig and an engineer is available.
The ICloud is great to have in prep work as you can work at home on an iMac or outside your home on any device and anywhere around the world and keep everything in sync without effort, but I agree with you I also don’t rely on it for live performing , you need to have a solid backup system in place incase you don’t have internet connection , you never should fully rely on clouds cause they are always airyfairy 😂

Update:
• Per your instructions, I changed the filename to zip and the files extracted successfully.
• Successfully restored from T3.6.10 database only backup in beta 3.7 (8751)
• Once that was done, I went back to the file that would not open before and was able to successfully restore from backup in beta 3.7 (8751).

Damir Yes, I use iCloud and know its features well. I use iCloud to share data across 4 computers an iphone and ipad so I have to manage my shared data. I DO use it to share data between my performance apps (Gig Performer, L6 Helix, various controller backups, MIDI Pipe, Virtual Instrument patches, preferences, manuals...etc) all of which are small files.

In my experience, iCloud struggles syncing larger files like audio and video - which, I have read, is why Apple excludes those folders from iCloud sync. Moreover, I never want to be at a gig using some third party WiFi or trying to use my phone as a hotspot to download a file that failed to sync properly. Especially since iCloud does not provide tools to initiate or control syncing functions in any way. I see it's value if one's performance repertoire is relatively static, but I have a new set with new songs every single week. In the past I tried to use software that needed to access Wifi to authorize the app or plugin and found reliance on quality internet access at a gigs to be unreliable. Maybe if I could just download one or two missing audio files...but trying to download multiple audio files bundled in a single, large back up zip? No thanks. I carry my fail safe redundancies with me on flash media. It's a great idea, but it's just not for me at this time.

If you prefer this way of working you could just work with small database only backups and copy the files in the Stage Traxx 3 folder manually. That is certainly a valid approach if you prefer that.

New beta build 8759

Thanks to @JohnnySolo I was able to pinpoint a nasty bug during file uploads. Therefore I decided to publish another release candidate with the fix and a couple of other last minute changes. I hope this is the final release candidate. If no new nasty bugs are found, I will submit the final version on Thursday to Apple.

The character ` at the beginning of a lyrics line will format the whole line as a chord line no matter what content the line has

I guess you got me there 😉. Looking at the code in the multitrack song settings, I already have everything setup to also replace regular song files. Even the logic what to do in case that file is used by some other song is there. So how it works is:

If you replace a file with the same file in the same folder, nothing will happen
If you replace it with the same filename from another folder, it will overwrite the existing file (this will affect all other songs that use this file)
If you replace it with a file with a new filename, it will delete the original file if no other song is using it

I guess I could add that as a last minute change to 3.7

OK, I have just submitted the final version to Apple for review. If there are no issues in review, I will release version 3.7.0 on Sunday (after your Saturday Night Gigs). The release will be stretched over a week. If you want to update right away you can do that by opening the "Stage Traxx 3" page in the App Store. It will offer you the update right away, once it is released.

Here are the last minute changes compared to the last beta version:

It is now possible to link a stereo song to a new audio file
Added even more logging to the iCloud Sync to better support syncing issues

IMPORTANT

I made a mistake in setting up this beta which lead to the Beta showing up as "Stage Traxx 3" in the iCloud settings. Please make sure to uninstall the beta and delete the "Stage Traxx 3" iCloud container in iPad Settings -> AppleID (your Account) -> iCloud -> Manage Account Storage before updating the regular ST3 version.

If you don't do that you will see 2 "Stage Traxx 3" entries in Manage Account Storage with the same icon and it will be hard to tell which one to delete when the beta stops working.

Of course you can keep using the beta version for roughly 3 months. After that it will stop working and you will no longer be able to access the iCloud data of the beta version. So make sure to migrate anything you want to keep to the full version either via a backup or sharing of songs.

Thank you all for participating in the beta. This time we had around 60 testers running each beta build. I hope we will have a smooth release with only minor issues.

I will now close this thread and make a last update once version 3.7.0 is released.

Version 3.7.0 is now released in the App Store. It might take an hour or two to see it everywhere though.
