What a terrible app
musicadi I guess Peter could add an option where you can select which tab will be active as soon as the lyrics window opens: Queue, Playlists, A specific playlist or Songs.
This is indeed something I am thinking about but I would like to make the tabs consistent. So wherever you are when the player is closed will be when the player opens and vice versa. But I have some technical problems to solve if you are inside a playlist. So I need a bit more time for this. I guess I will add it in version 3.1.
musicadi That’s great news! Will this be a beta version?
No, because I have not setup a beta app yet and I don't want confusion when in app purchases are gone because you upgrade your official version with a beta version and the other way around. I will release it without a beta this time. Implementation is now finished, but I need to do more testing. If everything goes well, I will send it tomorrow to Apple for approval.
peter so will the queue become optional in this version ?
i really need it to be as close as possible to V2.
I try to avoid touching the screen at any time with often hundreds of folk out there watching me. The iPad has to be as insignificant as my mic stand !
once set up I follow the playlist I’ve put together prior to the gig and trigger with a Bluetooth foot switch.
pity I missed out on the beta testing this time Peter (for V3) ... never had the invitation !
Looking forward to the next installment
thanks again.

AlanC76 so will the queue become optional in this version ?
Yes. You touch a song and it will be armed for playback or setup as the next song (if playback is running). Just like in version 2. Added benefit is that you can also play songs from the songlist which was not possible in v2 as there was no song list. If you don't touch anything you will progress through the playlist or songlist until the end and then start over from the beginning. Pedal commands are also the same so that you don't need the additional trigger pedal. Just up and down to move through the list.
The queue is still there working in the background but handled automatically by the app. You don't need to worry about it. The enqueue functions are also removed. It will be like a "light" operation mode. Less options but also less possibility of confusion.
Of course you can switch the queue functionality back on and then everything is the way it is right now in v3.
Right now I'm not sure which mode should be default. It might make sense to have the easy mode the default but then everyone who has v3 already running would have a different usability after the update. That's a difficult decision.

The invitation was here in the forum. The big thread with over 500 messages.
I’ve got to say I used ST3 last night onstage for the first time, I played with it during beta but never gigged it.
I love the queue system, my playlists are all well and good, but being able to change the list on the fly, with a live queue system is brilliant
each to their own, but i’ll Be keeping the system as is, don’t need the option for ST2 type workflow
also think some of the criticism on this thread was a bit over the top... they guy is doing a decent job, he’s grafting hard... and I don’t see others Releasing an app.
Treyjax also think some of the criticism on this thread was a bit over the top...
Quite agree ! Even the title is insulting. It’s NOT a terrible app but an excellent app that just doesn’t suit us all as it is now.
But we’re lucky to have a serious guy like Peter who’s willing to do extra hard work to make his clients happy.
FWIW, in French we use “terrible” ironically meaning “amazing” !

And you will still (I hope) have those little letters to the right that allows you to jump to songs that start with a particular letter! I wish we could have that in the Playlist too but I know it's not practical. I do tend to keep my Playlists in alphabetical order so that it's easy to navigate - which is why I wish those little letters were there.
As an aside, maybe I'll use ST2 for the break tunes and ST3 for performance and delete the break tunes from ST3 altogether.
I like to have the break tunes at a lower volume than the performance.

Actually what I use for break music is Serato Pyro. It has the best Automix algorithm with really great transitions from track to track. It's like having a DJ in the house. And it can play Spotify playlists which means no additional memory needed for unlimited break music.

Of course.

Wow ! Thanks for that Peter ! Just what I (we ? ;-) ) need
I've got to say that I've read through this whole thread and I'm pretty disappointed by some attitudes to be honest.
I was a Beta tester and I had some issues with the queue system in my mind. I've been using it on stage as a solo and a duo/trio for three months+ now and like some others in the thread have many tracks loaded (over 1100 at present) and some quite large audiences. I extensively use the midi functions to control reverbs, effects, lights and even a powerpoint background display on a PC using Bome Midi Translator. I too use an airturn. finally my main iPad is networked to the other members of the duo/trio iPads. So i'm pushing the system very hard. I pick next songs on the fly in mid song and it has to be slick.
ST2 worked superbly and there is an argument that if you are so unhappy with ST3 then just use ST2.
BUT
St3 will remain stable as iOS (and iPadOS) advance and will allow you to use an iPhone for ST3 (great for the networked lyrics).
Peter has done an amazing feat with this software and I really can't see him getting rich on the income compared to all the hours he's put into getting it to this stage. The Beta testers, including myself gave him a hard time and posed many challenges.
Just put some time into using the ST3 version and I know the advantages will outweigh the disadvantages. I'm still throwing challenges and I'm sure that if it had been me in Peters shoes I would have told me to get lost, but he has not.
So lets cool the rhetoric and give the guy and his software a chance.
Beejaywh I’ve been using the app for a few days at home to see how will I cope at a gig and it’s a no no for me, too many extra pressing and visual changes. Can definitely see some advantages for other type work but not for what I do. The auto play doesn’t work at the playlist view only the queue. BIG NO NO. Flipping through pages to get the same work on a single page on ST2. No no. I don’t think some of you understand what it’s like to octopus around while you need to concentrate on playing and singing, running dmx and mixing on another ipad, same time reading lyrics, WHY CANT I SEE LYRICS while looking for the next song to play?? That’s a disaster for me!!? No my friend, it’s a no no.
Ill go as far as saying I’m willing to pay $100 a year to keep ST2 EXACTLY THE SAME for years to come. It helps me earn a living easily where no other app compares to it.
Sorry but ST3 simply isn’t for me

If someone... anyone(!) had just explained the method as @musicadi did in his response to my post, this thread would be OVER. And it may have made any additional work from @peter wholly unnecessary. But no one... NO ONE explained it in such a clear, concise manner the way @musicadi did. This clear explanation, in my opinion, is all that was needed! Instead, we got chastised and somewhat mocked for not getting it like they did. @Bazz02 posted a screenshot of what we're asking for is supposed to look like but offered precisely zero explanation on how to do it. Just a smug, "Look familiar?" comment. You certainly aren't offering up a helpful explanation either, @Beejaywh.
And you wonder why some people are angry?
@SteveCherelle, @Sharonzaz, @AlanC76, here's @musicadi's explanation and it works very well.
I say again, for me this would have prevented a lot of aggravation.
There is a setting called “Default queue add position”. Set that to “Top”. This way, every time you tap a song, it will be added to the top of the queue and you only have to tap Play (while still in the Songlist or Playlist window). So, actually you need only two taps to play a song. In ST2 your playlist was loaded automatically and you hit play to play the FIRST song, but if you wanted to play the second song, you also needed two taps.
When you open ST3, the Songs window will open, where you have all your songs. There, just tap the song you want to start with, then hit play. The lyrics window will open, with the list on the left. There, tap on the Songs tab and you’re all set. Now you can just tap any song you like and that will come next in line, so when your actual song stops, all you gave to do is tap Play.
The very first time you do this, it does take you to the Queue but tapping on the Songlist or Playlist again will keep it from going back to the Queue. I've tried it and it works!
Again, many thanks, @musicadi!

SoloGuy I am curious as to why 3 of my posts are marked as "Deleted".
Which posts? I don't see any deleted posts in this thread.
BTW, I have just uploaded version 3.0.1 to the app store. Once reviewed by Apple, it will be released quite possible in the next few days.
Here is the Changelog:
3.0.1 (2019-08-14)
This release brings back the playlist based workflow from version 2. It can be activated by disabling the option Advanced Queue Mode in the settings dialog. In this mode, the queue management is handled transparently by Stage Traxx. You only need to select the song you want to play and Stage Traxx will continue with the songs in your current context (playlist or song list).
Added
- Playlist based operation mode where the queue is handled automatically by the app. Can be turned on and off by the option Advanced Queue Mode in settings dialog.
- New option in settings dialog to disable drag & drop sorting
Changed
- Support forum link is now pointing to the new domain name
Fixed
- Crash when trying to send invalid midi commands
- Waveform generation fails when trying to import non-standard audio files
