^^ I don't know why one would not want this feature.
Before I upgrade...
Sharonzaz every single time i touch a song i gotta see this ''added to queue'' msg which drives me insane!
Just enable the Double tap mode. You will then need to double tap a song if you want it added to the queue.
You could already run the app like the previous if you use your playlists like you did. Organize your songs in playlists and then tap the play button in the playlist view. It will replace the queue with the playlist including autoplay settings. That's basically the same process as in version 2.
SoloGuy That is if... IF when a song gets moved to the top of the queue, the app also auto scrolls to the top of the queue with that song highlighted.
Yes it does that if you are in the queue. So if double tap on a song at the bottom of the queue, it will scroll up. If you work from the song list, the view will stay in the song list. It would be too confusing if the view would switch back to the queue.
Sorry, I completely forgot about that request. So if I understand correctly you would like an option to not display highlighted text in the center of the screen but on top? Right?
I guess I could add that.

Dbl tap on or off, don’t matter as in the old version I could touch the next song while playing the current song. Btw on the iPhone you cannot at all tap to choose whatever song you have to get back to the queue and then tap on a song.
Honestly peter I cannot work with this version. I’m not even bummed about the 10 dollars but now I’m gonna be scared to update the iPad in future as this app is my bread and butter and this version to me is useless. pls pls pls make another version that works exactly like the old one, I’m prepared to pay you plenty for it just not this. This isn’t workable

Yes indeed! Having the highlighted lyrics at the top of the page would be great! Mostly it's a problem when you use big chunks of lyrics. If I know the song, I just need a reminder as sometimes the mind can simply blank out. Anyway, with a big chunk of lyrics the bottom of it can get too low in the field to read. If they're up at the top it would not be a problem. Thanks, Peter!
I'll be buying a stairway... no wait... the new version tonight!

Well, I got the new version installed...
I think Sharonzaz is quite right. I cannot work with this version either.
I don’t think it’s reasonable that you can’t just tap on a song and play it.
I realized quite quickly that I like to have all of the songs that I perform in one list and be able to play any song at a whim. Having the song move to the top of the queue kind of breaks my train of thought. Let me explain. In ST2, you can scroll down to a song and see other songs that may trigger other ideas for songs to play. Not that I think in an alphabetical manner but sometimes even though it may actually be alphabetical, the song may have the right feel that I’m looking for. If not, that’s ok but I miss that in this new version. The other thing is that I’ve got a backup of my ST2 files but ST3 just cannot see them. I’ve looked everywhere for a setting that I’m missing but there’s nothing. If I am to use this new version I will have to copy the lyrics with their time stamps and paste them into the songs in ST3.
Honestly, I simply cannot see the advantages of this whole new queue system. It’s just aggravating. I’m not trying to be unkind or start a fight but I don’t see the point in making your customers do things the way YOU want them to do it. I think we should have a choice. For me, it’s not better. It’s just in the way of my workflow. I think if you’re new to Stage Traxx 3 you could get used to it. I don’t think I can. I think it has lost the elegance in the old version’s simplicity.
I’m sad because I’m duly by how smooth the tempo change feature works. I love it! Alas...
SoloGuy not only that, but even when you scroll down the list and accidentally touch a song on the list too long it MOVES up or down the list and loses its place!
Theres no no way in hell I can use this.
I’ve got 500+ tracks that I made my own for my one man gigs.
ive got other trx for some theatre work that I operate and cannot have a single glitch, some HAVE to play right after the previous songs and some Have to stop, this whole drag to the left to auto play not only confusing it also doesn’t work.
Hugely disappointing and frustrating. This isn’t supposed to be so difficult to operate and run.
i rely on v2 and it answers ALL my needs.
great to be able to edit the songs from the list for example, but the queue is a disaster, song skipping to the top???!!?!!! Who can work like this?
I work the list while performing this is so damn unusable sorry @peter I’m sure you worked hard on this but after trying hard to adapt to this I’m saying no way this is a pro app for me, im
gonna lose my mind and possibly my gigs trying to disarm a nuclear bomb while I’m trying to sing and play guitar??
I have some ideas that may help.
In the queue, yes, you double tap a song and it moves to to the top of the queue but it should start playing the the song! Secondly, after that song is finished, it should move to the bottom of the queue to get it out of the way. Eventually, if you should ever manage to play all the songs in the queue, it all starts at the beginning again. This last part is not important but when you’re done for the night, hit the Sort arrows and revert the queue to what it was at the start of the night - ready for the next gig.
I have some ideas that may help if we absolutely have to use the queue.

Still, it would be better if a single tap on a song selects it, a double tap selects and plays it and after it’s finished playing, have an option to simply mark it as played or move it to the bottom of the queue and marked as played.
SoloGuy I don’t care for the queue option. If there’s a way to leave the playlist as it was and the queue for new users or ppl who can use it then fine.
There was nothing wrong with the old way of its left as it was, I understand new features are good if one can use them but the old way should be left as it was.
SoloGuy The other thing is that I’ve got a backup of my ST2 files but ST3 just cannot see them.
ST3 can not access files lying in the ST2 app. You will need to upload the backup to Dropbox or transfer it via iTunes file sharing to the ST3 app. Then you can access it in ST3: https://stagetraxx.com/user-guide/first-steps/#migrating-from-version-2
Regarding the queue:
We did have a lot of discussions during beta testing about the queue. You can look it up in the beta testing thread if you like. The queue has a lot of benefits compared to the playlist system in the old version. Most notably that it is dynamic. The nature of a queue is to process things in the order they are located in the queue. So songs are always played from top to bottom. Once played, a song will be removed from the queue.
If you for example don't like the next song just double tap and it will move to the bottom, or swipe left to remove it completely from the queue. You can reorder songs by drag and drop very quickly. You can add single songs or whole playlists to the current queue. Nothing of this has been possible in the old version. If you needed to play a song from another playlist you needed to switch playlists.
But I see your point and in beta testing there also where a small number of users that could not adapt to the queue. I will think about options to offer the old playback based system as an alternative.

Autoplay settings you make in a playlist are loaded into the queue when you load the playlist. no need to swipe anything. Only when adding single songs to the queue, autoplay settings are not copied.
peter I will very much appreciate if you could make the new playlist work just the same as the old app pls. No need to reorder on the fly and no need to add to queue and such options. It needs to be solid and uncompromising as for my needs changes are disastrous while I’m in the middle of a set.
in my one man gigs I sometimes play 2-3 or even longer hour sets. This jumping around up and down songs is so confusing I feel like epilepsy attack is coming. I know it sounds overdramatized but when I fired up the new app I just saw my whole gig world collapse. Sorry, again I am certain you’ve put your heart and soul into this but this simply does not work for me.
I suppose this is a good feature for a DJ or something similar, but in my “world” simplicity and order (especially after years with previous version that is simply MAGIC!!!) are paramount.
im very much willing to pay you even a monthly fee to keep the old version alive and working forward unless you could somehow have a button that makes the new one revert back to same features as V2.
i do love being able to get into the song editing (eq, lyrics, transport etc) while I the playlist but the fact that a long click on a song starts moving it around (in playlist mode, not queue) is also a big problem.
Sorry for my endless bitching.

OK, so what I will do in the next version 3.0.1 is the following:
When you are within a playlist. Then the app will behave as before. It will hide away the queue handling from you. So if you select a song it will be armed in the player. If a song is playing and you select a song it will become the "Next" song to play. Positions will not change. When you are at the end of the queue, it will wrap over to the beginning. Just as before.
Internally it will still queue up songs, but you will not be aware of that.
Will that work for you?
peter That would work for me. Thank you. Is it possible to have multiple Song Lists or even Queues (in case I do somehow manage to get used to it)? I also think that you should be able to lock or write protect song lists/queues so that you don’t accidentally screw up a song order that you like.
I ask about multiple lists because when I take a break at a gig, I have a song list full of commercial recordings that I play for break music and that song list has a lower volume than my gig list.
I guess its to each his own. I had been using ST2 for 5 years and recently was a beta tester for ST3. I have been using it in live performance with a keyboard player, a drummer, and myself on guitar and sax. We too read the crowd. I will say give it a chance, once you understand and embrace the queue approach you will love it. I would NEVER go back to ST2.
