Has anyone used the Behringer Flow 8 with Stagetraxx 3 yet? I
Considering buying one.

Any thoughts?

    Yes I’ve got one that I use with Stage Traxx. I connect to it using the camera connection kit from iPad. I’m very pleased with it but not so sure about the Bluetooth function - had a few drop outs using it live don’t know whether it was the Bluetooth or something else. I can recommend at the price. Used it last night at a gig - faultless.

    I have most of the Behringer digital mixers (Flow 8, XR18 and X32) and they all work fine with ST3. All 4 outputs on the Flow 8 are recognized and selectable in ST3.

      peter I’m hoping to run the board as an interface into my line array.

      I’m running a live Duo with backing tracks (2 singers one fiddle and I switch off on different instruments. Does either of you know of a 8-12 Chanel mixer/interface that also has midi interface? If it’s cheap enough I’d maybe think about 2 (one for backup).

        If you want a mixer with multitrack audio interface the cheapest option is the 18 channel XR18 from Behringer. It also has MIDI. That's the only one with this feature set that I know of.

        The Flow 8 can be midi controlled but I’ve never used it. If you download the Flow8 user guide that will explain the scope of the midi implement.

          I also have a duo group using ST3. I use a Behringer U-PHORNIA UMC404HD. Any mixing is done on the iPad using AUM.

          It is cheaper and more compact. Might be worth a look.

              Well, A I went and looked at both the Xair 18 and the Behringer U-PHORIA UMC404HD. I think the xair is pretty sharp and very applicable! A (would cover all basses with features to spare) but it looks like overkill for my duo and of course at the 1 kilo-dollars CDN price tag I think it’s maybe a little more than I want to spend right now (Especially since I have a QSC TM30 that I use for our larger band but it’s too big to drag around for a quick setup).

              The Behringer U-PHORIA UMC404HD looks more like my speed. I can see that the functionality as an interface would handle the minimum ins and outs we need as well as handle the midi controls of our light show and Kemper rig for guitar but I’m hoping you might be so kind as to help me better understand the routing & workflow of how you use it as a mixer?

              My FOH is a Bose L1M2 and I have the choice of either the 4 or 8 channel Bose mixer in my Closet to chose from if required but my goal (hope) is to use only one mixer/interface to simplify the playback rig wiring, as well as gig setup.

              Let’s say we have Acoustic guitar, fiddle and two vocals. Could I just simply use the UMC404HD as a mixer as well as an interface and utilize some kind of Behringer App to mix and add effects to the live channels? Is that what you are doing?

              To assign Click and guide tracks out to two separate auxiliary monitor mixes to IEMs (that I already own) so that ideally each of us could mix their own IEMs. (One single aux mix could work too).

              I have several interfaces that I run various recording projects with right now but they are either way to elaborate or not quite elaborate enough.

                    One thing to keep in mind is the latency. When mixing in AUM you will add a full set of roundtrip latency. Not sure how low you can get that with the UMC404 but I would guess that it will hover around 10ms which could already be too much for comfortable monitoring.

                    If you want to go in the direction of an audio interface used as a mixer I would recommend looking at an interface with built in processing. Something like the Steinberg UR44C which also has a iOS app to control the integrated dsp.

                      I agree Peter, latency is always something to keep in mind. I have been very impressed with the UMC 404HD, and down right amazed for the price point. My main use case for the unit is a live setup (Not using the monitoring feature) and have had no issues.

                      Here is a quick description of my setup. I have all of the live performer’s mics/instruments going into the UMC 404HD. The UMC goes into an iPad (usb and camera kit). On the iPad, Audio from the UMC and Stage Traxx is then brought into AUM. Any routing and effects are added in AUM. Then the AUM outs are routed to the UMC outs and to my Bose PA. (Since I am using the iPad for Stage Traxx, why not use it for the mixer too and not have buy/deal with another piece of hardware)

                      I also have midi control surfaces to control Stage Traxx and AUM during my performance. I have connected these via USB in the past, but now use BlueTooth MIDI using Yamaha’s UT-BT01 and MD-BT01.

                        @peter , I have a question regarding the Flow 8 and tempo synchronisation and if you could advise I would be most appreciative. The Flow 8 does not receive MIDI clock to enable tempo sync for the delay effects. Instead, it responds to a Tap Tempo message on MIDI Channel 16 using Note 0. Is there a way to make this work within Stage Traxxx to set the tempo for each song?

                        That should be possible. You will need to calculate the correct timestamp values for the tempo you wish and send the note on commands with these values.

                        For example for tempo 120 you need to send them half a second apart:

                        [midi@00:00.00: N0.127@16]
[midi@00:00.50: N0.127@16]
[midi@00:01.00: N0.127@16]
[midi@00:00.50: N0.127@16]

                        To calculate the time per Note use this formula: 60 / bpm value. Example 100bpm would lead to 0.6 seconds per Note event.

                        Thanks for your reply Peter. I have tried this a number of times and, even following your example, the tempo set by the command still varies each time I play the song. Would there be any possibility of adding a function to Stage Traxxx where a specified midi command is sent with each beat of the tempo for the duration of the song set in the song details screen?                         No, as ST3 has no idea where a beat is even if you specifiy the tempo.

                        If the tempo is not accurate with 4 midi commands just increase the number of messages you send. 8 for example.

                        How big is the difference anyway. For a delay it really does not matter if it is 2 or 3 beats off.

                          I have tried 6 and 8 and I still get different tempos each time. Especially when you go to tempos like 134bpm. The results vary each time.

                            2 - 3bpm. I run in to the issue when I use a delay as in effect where I need it to feedback/decay over 3-4 bars. There is an obvious shift in time as the effect continues.

                            You mentioned in an earlier post that you own a Flow 8. If you have time, try setting a tempo of 134 and let me know how it goes.

                            I know the option to fire the required MIDI command at the bpm and division set in the song details window (not following the beat of the backing track) is available in other software (BandHelper) and it would be the icing on the cake for my setup with Stage Traxxx.
