Hi Peter, I have just updated my ipad 4th generation to iPad Pro 10.5 256gb for one reason only and that’s Stage Traxx.
Now it’s time to give you honest feedback on new version 3 As you know the original version I had a lot of imput in its design good and bad and it has made it a great tool.
I will point out the obvious BAD things as this is the only way to improve V3 but I think it’s so far behind the old version it will be a lot of work to beat it.
I don’t like the overall interface idea it is a big step backwards to the old version,
Main logic should be, turn the iPad on, select the software and hit play, that’s what we want, now you have to load every song to a playlist first every time you want to play something else you have to load it again this does not work on stage it is crypling the user.
If you have a playlist loaded you play a song it is deleted from playlist automatically after playback finishes this is bad as I repeat good songs later on as they might be requested now I have to load it again VERY BAD.
The purple colour on played songs is a godsend in old version, it’s fantastic to examine afterwards so next time you play same venue with same audience you can easily see what you’ve played last time so you can vary the listening experience and so don’t sound repetitive.
Very bad, when in lanescape with lyrics displayed you can’t load new song in actual fact you can’t do much at all.
In portrait mode no song display how do you change next song, different views give you different usage VERY CONFUSING and limited functionality old version leaves it for dead on stage.
Song. Playlist. Modes are not very practical
Say your que list hasn’t the song you need next as a song is playing you currently can’t go to songs or playlist to choose a song to place in to que unless you get rid of the lyrics screen so basically you are stuffed no matter which way you look at it, and eaven if you do manage to load the song it goes to the end of the que so then you need to scroll down to the bottom of the que list then slide left to bring it to top of que then eventually hit play then bring up the lyrics screen, I feel this is absolutely unworkable on stage, the lyrics screen needs to be always visible and any loading should be able to be done and if a song is playing it places the newly loaded song in the next cue unless the song is not playing then the newly loaded song should immediately be loaded for replay.
The best scenario for playing songs anywhere including playlist and song mode should be single hit on any song will play that song immediately and a double hit goes to song edit not the way it is now very confusing and frustrating you always end up in edit mode when hitting a song thinking you will play it
The new software needs a more in depth vision from people that fully use it on stage, need lyrics and play an instrument.
I can’t see myself using the new version on stage as it’s lacking the real basics.
Reasons to stay with the old version.
I can’t do without my foot control of selecting my next song while singing the now playing song This is a must have.
Loading a new playlist and selecting a next song to play from it with all the new playlist settings repeat song selecting and volume and EQ settings, this is invaluable on stage only appreciated by professionals.
Simple one interface that is always there reliable solid easy to see and never stops.
Many others but I am out of time
So I hope you find some help from my comments I hope to have more feedback once I play with V3 a bit more but it is so frustrating I keep loading the old version and playing with that instead.
Thanks Damir
