  • Stage Traxx beta version 3.0.0

I also, had a job yesterday, and it works, jus great, and my pedalboard, let my hands to be free.

I am very satisfied, with the ability, to during a live performance, change a lot, without stopping the music, for instance, pick a new song, from a list, and add it to the que. It works very well, and you have mad3 a intuitive, well working program. Thanks a lot.
It is only one thing, as noticed. When I used the pedalboard, and tapped volume up, it first, went down, one step, and then, I had to tap two times, with my foot, to reach a little higher volume. Strange was, it mad not the same with the volume down. Maybe my BT-pedalboard, got crazy. Have a nice day.

Thanks guys for the field reports. I really appreciate it. The final 3.0 version is near. I don't expect many new beta versions now. I have started writing a new online manual and I am aiming for a release end of july!

Spelolle When I used the pedalboard, and tapped volume up, it first, went down, one step, and then, I had to tap two times, with my foot, to reach a little higher volume.

It might be a rounding problem. Are you changing device volume or song volume?

Hey Peter, will we be able to continue use up to release?

      peter
ok peter i ve tested the new update
the bug ont the playlist screen is fixed
but when the song played is finished appears up this one and not down it's not logical .

and another when i choose a play song i tape on the song name .
logical the next song must be down not up
      best regards
      michel

EddieH Hey Peter, will we be able to continue use up to release?

Yes, the beta will be replaced by the final version once you download it from the app store. You will then need to do a real purchase to unlock full functionality.

Future beta versions will then be a separate app to not interfere with the stable version (same as betas of version 2).

dellamore but when the song played is finished appears up this one and not down it's not logical .

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. If you are on the playlist screen, songs will never move around when playback finishes. The order of songs in a playlist is fixed. Changing the queue does not change a playlist. Or do you mean something else?

          peter
i send you a video peter
i say just that on playlist mode the next song is always Up the play song is not logical .
when the play song is finished is the top song with is selected

On the contrary. It is absolutely logical. You have selected that you want to add songs to the top of the queue. When playback is not running, that will always load a song into the player for playback. So every time you add a song, it will be loaded into the first slot of the queue.

If you don't want that, you can change settings to load the song to the bottom of the queue. It's up to you. And if you want to decide on the fly where to add the song to, slide it to the right.

            peter
            it's logical for you
but not for me et for my friend too who use it . i 've asked .
actually peter I’m just trying to use the playlist mode as I was using the old version of stage tract which is just perfect for me but it’s not possible. I would not use the queue function does not correspond at all to my way of working. Would it not be possible to integrate the same system as the previous version?
actually the big innovation is that you can use it on my iPhone. I would be so disappointed to no longer be able to work like before .
            best regards
            michel
sorry but i need to go to my show see you

            ,

I'm sorry, but as I told you many times before, it is not possible to offer the new queue mode and the old playlist mode at the same time. You will have to adapt. The new system offers many option to tweak the behavior but the core will be the queue. If you absolutely can not make the queue work for you, you will have to stay with version 2.

              peter
ok i promiss to try again peter it's not bad will .
of course i stay on version 2 but it will support new update system ? you will continue to follow it ?

Hi Peter found a small bug whilst rehearsing with ST3 on my IPAD this afternoon. If whilst a song is playing a midi foot pedal is used to ‘move selection down’ (or up) then used to ‘trigger selected song’ a message ‘song moved to end of queue’ appears but song is in fact moved correctly to NEXT (2nd) in the queue. If however a song isn’t playing problem doesn’t happen.
                best regards Richard
ps a great APP well done!

dellamore of course i stay on version 2 but it will support new update system ? you will continue to follow it ?

No, version 2 will no longer be supported. It works fine with iOS 12 but I don't know yet if it works well in iOS 13. We will see. In any case if you want to stay on ST2 I would suggest not installing iOS 13.

DickyDutch Yeah, it's the wrong message. I will correct it.

musicadi I feel exactly the same but stage Traxx 3 has got some great improvements like tempo change and pitch shift these two things could possibly get me to use the new version but not the way the logic is at the moment on the new version.
ON STAGE USE should be main priority of its logic so far it does not cut the mustard.
Here is one issue you will not like when you go to choose a song to add to your playlist and easily hit the STOP button while performing.
Solution shift the play button to the other side and keep anything that can stop your performance away from this button VERY LOGICAL something that was seriously thought about in the old version, that’s why it is almost bullet proof.
I have many more critical problems new version suffers from for on stage, perhaps the old version should have been beefed up with tempo/pitch and all other niceties version 3 has but left alone with its one page setup just turn it on and hit play mentality.
This is missing in version 3 and will put off many serious on stage users

Damir Here is one issue you will not like when you go to choose a song to add to your playlist and easily hit the STOP button while performing.

Solution: Activate double tap to stop!

rumbakid BackTrax is a program I was going to use for on stage then I found Stage TRAX in its early stages I helped develop Stage trax2 which ended up leaving Back Trax for dead and it still does I would still pay ten times more for Stage traxx2 , Stage TRAXX3 needs more thought by people that have greater logical thinking and on stage experience to make it pass the old version this will take time and might still never be as good if the wrong people are suggesting ideas that seem good but are not practical on stage.
As I am in the middle of building a house I am monitoring its progress and hope to have some input soon before things get beyond change.
Suggestion to Peter , double hit the volume bar to change from song volume to Master volume could greatly improve its on stage use.
Make it possible to change tempo in real time, suggestion, replace text size buttons with tempo change as an option , replace scroll speed buttons with pitch shift as an option, or any combination the user might want, make it possible to do this with foot control.
These changes would be the sort of thing that would start beating the old version.
Text size can be adjusted by pinching the screen so why have buttons, make it as you change text by pinching a text size display number pops up in corner to see a value and disappears after a few seconds of pinch release, that’s all we want ease of use and out of our face to get on with music, most heavy users have their text setup prior to performance and probably running with time code.

Damir Stage TRAXX3 needs more thought by people that have greater logical thinking and on stage experience to make it pass the old version this will take time and might still never be as good if the wrong people are suggesting ideas that seem good but are not practical on stage.

I always consider all suggestions and feature requests. But everyone should be aware that there is no single right way to perform on stage! What works for one does not work for someone else. The old playlist based model was working for a lot of users but did make problems for other users. The way I see it, the new queue based system has mostly advantages compared to the old system. I can't think about a single use case that does not work with the queue. If you think you have such a use case, please tell me and I will write how to achieve the same result with the queue.

Yes, you will need to adapt to the queue. It does absolutely not make any sense trying to use ST3 the same way you used ST2. But with only small changes to your workflow I am sure, you will see the benefit of the queue.

If changing the workflow is out of the question, then I suggest staying with ST2. If you do not update iOS that version will keep on working indefinitely.

Stage Trax is unique, why! It serves well a musician that plays an instrument, sings, and entertains as live as possible with flexibility while looking professional on stage.
I program my performance and prepare extra songs I know will get the crowd going I can change mood and atmosphere in real time my text is always time code synced.
This is all seamlessly achieved, by using my foot controller I can scroll through my playlist and choose next song, how do you achieve this in the new version without touching the IPad? Someone yells out a previously requested song I can foot scroll to this song again and interact with crowd as my existing song stops and just foot start the next song without touching the iPad and whammoo I am performing the requested song like Magic this seamless effort makes me a more professional on stage and is only possible due to the well thought of software, how can I do this in version 3 when the song disappears to another history page that is not accessible without touching the iPad, this is the sort of thing that makes stage Traxx a true on stage tool.
As I said if I had tempo change on foot control I would be happier with that than any other improvement like not needing iTunes library, yes it would be nice to improve these things but not at the cost of powerful on stage live features which I think we have lost in version 3.
You have lots of software choices if you want to finger control on stage it’s the foot control and easy one touch on screen useful on stage features that will make version 3 stand out.
I am positive I am talking on behalf of all instrument playing singers that can’t remember 200 songs lyrics.
you should not need to touch the iPad once you get on stage unless loading background music playlist , this works like a dream in version 2 you can seamlessly go to a break with all volumes and continue play settings in place step back on stage before the end of the now playing song select new playlist with its volume and all settings in place and whamoo! Your back performing effortlessly, IT JUST WORKS.
How do you do this in version 3?

Damir This is all seamlessly achieved, by using my foot controller I can scroll through my playlist and choose next song, how do you achieve this in the new version without touching the IPad?

Why, the same es before, except that you now need 3 pedals: up, down and select.

Damir but not at the cost of powerful on stage live features which I think we have lost in version 3.

And which feature exactly is missing?

Damir this works like a dream in version 2 you can seamlessly go to a break with all volumes and continue play settings in place step back on stage before the end of the now playing song select new playlist with its volume and all settings in place and whamoo! Your back performing effortlessly, IT JUST WORKS.
How do you do this in version 3?

OK, I see. There are no volume settings for playlists. Everything else works like before: While a song is playing, you load another playlist that will replace the queue with the playlist. When song finishes, turn up the volume and you can start. You can also do this with pedals.

peter Damir, I am also a professional guitarist/solo artist that loved ST2 and have now switched to ST3. I have done around 60 gigs with no issues, never once had a crash. Peter has done an amazing job creating something that just works!
I have a AirTurn switch 6 which allows me to start/stop song, open song list, select next song I want to play, add song to cue list, and even toggle auto play all with my feet whilst playing guitar and singing. What more could you ask for? The only time I touch the iPad is to load a playlist. I don’t see what your problem is? Ok ST3 works different to ST2 but if you embrace the new way of doing things and buy a switch 6 you will get all that you desire. :-)

Fretwizard Hi Peter, after replying to Damir I thought I’d try something and have come across a little problem. As I said in my reply I can open song list with switch 6 foot pedal, scroll to select song and then add to cue list. However if the song list is on history tab I can’t scroll and add song to cue? It work on playlist tab, songs tab but not on the history tab. I’ve never tried this as I never repeat songs at a gig, I have too many good songs. Lol
