peter Hi, I dont seem to see any difference to the the UI in this version apart from a green play button.
Also There only seems to be a Bluetooth midi option so do you intend to implement a normal midi option as I use wired midi rather than Bluetooth but I can’t find an option for this like there is in version 2.

Bazz02 Would it be possible to swipe right on Playlist - adds songs to queue.
Single tap on Playlist allows Playlist to function as in Version 2
This is already working as you describe it. Tap on a playlist will replace the current queue with the playlist and swipe right will add the playlist to the queue.
Fretwizard Hi peter, thanks for the swift response. My stomp 6 has 6 pedals so 3 or even 4 pedals is fine.
OK, I will add commands to move selection up and down and a select action to move the currently selected song to the top of the queue or add it to the queue if you are on a different screen.

Open the big player view. The focus was to redesign the player view.

Normal midi is supported out of the box. You don't need to enable anything. Just assign actions.
Ok I see the Playlist single tap.But to play a song on your playlist you have to double tap the song .It then goes to the top of the playlist so your playlist has changed .
Maybe I’m just too close to vers 2.
Keep up the good work.
Barry.
I just finished importing all my songs and playlists from ST2 to ST3. On first try when my screen timeout kicked in the import froze. I turned off display lock and got them all in.
Testing usability: All was fine until I selected one of the playlists.. when I did that it added ALL the songs in that playlist to the queue. NOT what I expected. I have over 450 tracks. So we have categorized them into playlists so its easier to find a song. For example, we have "BALLADS", "CLASSIC ROCK", "SOUL, MOTOWN, FUNK", "CHA CHA, TANGO, RUMBA, ETC".. and so on.
What I need to do is 1) select a playlist, 2) find the song in the playlist, 3) add it to the queue.
Is there a setting that I missed somewhere? Without this capability I have no choice but to stay with ST2.
Thanks
JD
Also, in ST2, while playing/singing one song I generally select the next song to be played. In this new version, in order to do that I have to close the lyrics pane. This is just not going to work for me.
A much better solution would be to keep the orig buttons at the bottom.. Queue, Playlists, Songs. Then while playing hitting one of those would replace the LEFT frame. But again this would be only usable if you could select a single song from a playlist to add to the queue.
Overall, I REALLY like it, but these two issues are a "no go" for me to switch to ST3.
Regards,
JD
Thanks coopdawg. Got it.... but two operations where used to be one. AND still cannot do this while my partner is singing... she will loose her lyrics!!
JDSMUSIC What I need to do is 1) select a playlist, 2) find the song in the playlist, 3) add it to the queue.
Tap on the disclore icon on the right hand side of the playlist to dive into the playlist. Now you can select songs to play.

Interesting idea. I will think about it.
coopdawg really liked the volume buttons instead of the slider which is harder to get exact.
But now you have both. The volume buttons are on the left hand side of the play button. Just like in version 2.
I agree with coopdawg. I like it! Nothing new to learn.
Hi Peter I’ve been testing midi commands embedded the lyrics and am finding that if a midi command is inserted too close to the beginning of a song e.g. [midi:00:00.10: CC18.127@2] if the play button is pressed to open the lyrics and start play, the midi command is ignored. If the song is immediately paused/stopped (with the lyrics view open and song rewinds) if play is resumed the midi command then works ok. In addition I have found that inserting a midi command to activate when a song opened e.g. [midi: CC18.127@2] causes some confusion to the connected midi device and seem doesn’t work properly. Can you please investigate. Regards Richard.

Confirm. This is due to the animation that is displayed when opening the player. Animations in iOS have the highest priority. Now the MIDI sending is delayed until the animation finished and Stage Traxx ignores the MIDI command because too much time passed since the scheduled time. I need to set a higher priority for the MIDI timer.

I can't confirm that. MIDI commands are sent reliably when the song is loaded.
Hi Peter I can now also confirm that MIDI commands are sent reliably when a song is loaded - I have changed settings in my midi bluetooth app and the problem I was getting has been solved. Regards Richard
Any update on releasing version 3?
It has some features I’ve been wanting for years.
I’m glad to see that new development is happening. I depend on this app at every gig and there aren’t any good alternatives. I’d be willing to pay for the upgrade and I’m sure others would too.
Johnr We're getting closer to release but there are still some unfinished parts. But I would say that the current beta is already capable to be used on stage. So go ahead and use the beta version.
The final version will replace the beta once it is released and there will be no data loss. So the transission will be seamless for you.
I have downloaded the beta but my understanding is that there is no easy way to transfer my current setup. The beta doesn't connect to dropbox to get my songs or backups. Am I missing something? I have hundreds of backing tracks all with lyrics and timings and individual adjustments.
Yes, you are missing a bit . ST3 uses the Apple Files app which can connect to most Filehosters including Dropbox. And you can also import a ST2 backup.
Biggest problem right now is that I will start writing the manual once all features are implemented. So at this moment you will have to play around with the app to get started.
Hi Peter - Perhaps an idea for the future.
If like me, some artists perform the occasional ‘acoustic song’ (guitar and vocals only, requiring no backing track) but need to refer to the lyrics. I was wondering therefore whether the ‘place holder’ song concept could be developed to facilitate this. My idea is that for a ‘place holder song’ the user would be given the choice of linking it to an ST timer (not audio file) that would allow the embedded song lyrics to scroll silently when play was pressed - the scroll speed adjustable by the user. As you know there are already other Apps out there that mimic this - but for me this functionality would be nice incorporated in ST3. I’d be interested to know whether this function is outside your vision for ST and whether too complicated to be considered. Regards Richard.
