The way I operate now is that I ensure that all my songs are at a similar/appropriate volume by editing/normalising them in wave editing software outside Stagetraxx. I then normally only want to control master volume when I’m performing. With ST2 I use the Playlist volume to do this because master volume is not available from the player screen. I normally check that all my playlists are 0.0db before I start and take a backup. I then restore this backup at the end of a show to ensure all my playlists are then reset to 0.0db negating changes that may have been made during the performance.
I realise that not all users use wave editing software, so with ST3 giving them the choice of being able to change either master or song volume from the player screen I think would be the way forward. Regards Richard.

A small progress update:

I am still working on the UI improvements. As most of you preferred the old interface, I did a lot of experimenting to find a way to get the visuals as similar to the old version as possible while still retaining the new flexible layout options necessary to support different device types.

I guess I made a breakthrough this week. Here is a sneek peek at the current status.

You can find most elements in similar places as before. It is not perfect yet, but I am tweaking and I think the dark mode might be finished by the end of the weekend. I hope to finish light mode by end of next week and be able to release a new update.

peter Yes! Looks so much better. Question. Is there a way to have it so that when you select a new song it automatically goes to the top of the queue? The old version behaved like this. Sometimes I select a song to perform next, but then change my mind and select a new one. But I forget that the old song plays first. I press start and the wrong song starts playing. It would be great if there was a setting you can select so that the most current song selection goes automatically to the top of the queue.

You can swipe a song to the right add it to the top of the queue. The consensus seemed to be that the default action should always put songs to the end of the queue.

peter I would really like to avoid swiping if possible. How about just a simple toggle in the settings menu? New song goes to 1) Top of queue 2) Bottom of queue.

Singerman Yes, I have swayed away from the subscription model as I generally don‘t like Software subscriptions myself. Price will stay the same in the first 2 months as an upgrade offer and will increase to $20 afterwards.

Hi Peter I’ve noticed that when adding a song to a playlist, if the ‘Search Songs’ function is used at the top of Song List there doesn’t seem to be a way of completing the transaction other than cancelling it - the done function seems to be missing - or am I doing something wrong. In addition I’ve found that if a song file is exported from ST3 (using the Files App) is then modified, then reimported, both the new and old files are retained on the database even though the ‘delete old file’ is selected on import. Don’t know whether this is an iOS or ST3 issue. Regards Richard.

Tap on the "search" button on your keyboard to dismiss the keyboard. That's the standard behavior for iOS. For example the mail app behaves the same.

If you want to update the file, just copy the edited version into the Stage Traxx app using the Files App and overwrite the existing file. Importing the song again will always skip files that already exist in Stage Traxx so your edits will not be copied.

Fretwizard just a way to scroll the queue list in player view and select next song to play with my feet?

I am still trying to wrap my head around a solution that would work with less than 3 pedals. Only way I found possible currently is to use pedals for up, down and select. But I'm not sure you would want to use 3 pedals just to select the next song to play.

Hi Peter, I've been using st2 for years and now using st3 3 to 4 nights a week, App seems really stable, not a single crash yet. Loving the new app.
I use an air turn stomp 6 To control start stop etc. st2 could scroll down the song list whilst playing and select next song to play. In st3 I can toggle song view but dont seem to be able to song scroll up and down the song list or add songs to queue with the stomp 6. Is there any way to add this feature so I can toggle song view, scroll the songs list and select next song I want to play, then add it to queue all with stomp 6? Thanks for all the great work so far.

New beta build 2951

This version focuses on improving the player screen. I tried to make the layout as similar to version 2 as possible.

Changes

Changed UI of the player view to a similar layout like in version 2
Added option to change volume slider behaviour in player view between song volume and device volume
Added option to select if songs are added to the top or bottom of the queue when selecting them
Added pedal action to view/hide the queue in player screen
Added double tap gesture and slide action to move next song in queue to the bottom of the queue
Improved battery lifetime by switching off audio engine when player is stopped and app moves to the background
Fixed queue badge not updated when adding multiple songs or restarting the app
Fixed songs which contain a "/" character in title or artist could not be imported from iTunes library

Bugs in this version

~~MIDI commands might be dropped during UI animations~~
~~error when creating backup with songs where volume is set to -inf~~
~~restoring version 2 backup fails if dropbox songs have been converted to lower case during file import~~

peter Hi, I dont seem to see any difference to the the UI in this version apart from a green play button.
Also There only seems to be a Bluetooth midi option so do you intend to implement a normal midi option as I use wired midi rather than Bluetooth but I can’t find an option for this like there is in version 2.

peter I really liked the volume buttons instead of the slider which is harder to get exact. To improve, you could add a third button (place between the up and down volume) to reset to zero. I’m curious to what others would like best.

Single tap on Playlist allows Playlist to function as in Version 2
The queue would be used for editing your song list on the fly etc.
which you can’t do in Version 2.

This is already working as you describe it. Tap on a playlist will replace the current queue with the playlist and swipe right will add the playlist to the queue.

OK, I will add commands to move selection up and down and a select action to move the currently selected song to the top of the queue or add it to the queue if you are on a different screen.

Open the big player view. The focus was to redesign the player view.

Normal midi is supported out of the box. You don't need to enable anything. Just assign actions.

Hi peter, thanks for the swift response. My stomp 6 has 6 pedals so 3 or even 4 pedals is fine. I make my set up on the fly so I always choose my next song as i'm playing. i have plenty of time to scroll and choose the next song but as i'm a guitarist I don't have my hands free. Currently I use 1 of the 6 pedals as start/stop and pedal 2 for song view toggle then i have to scroll up and down songs list and select/swipe next song with my fingers whist trying to play the guitar and sing. The ability to do this all with the spare 4 pedals would make everything so much easier. Regards, Dave.
