Hi Peter, i have just unknowingly created a duplicate song in ST3 folder and recreated a problem where you end up with two SONG files pointing to the same song file name yet there are two identical files now in ST3 folder. This is a very confusing situation im in now and very hard to explain, but il try.
What i did was, i exported Suspicious Mind from ST3 folder to edit it to suit my mix better then i reloaded it back to ST3 folder keeping everything exactly the same and was hoping it would just get replaced with the modified version, but to my surprise it actually created another song file of the exact same name in the ST3 folder and it added it as a new song in SONG mode, so now im in a pickle again i have two identical files, if i delete one of those versions in SONG mode i believe it will get rid of both versions of Suspicious Mind in the ST3 folder as they are both identical in name.
I will confirm this once i have made a backup of my Synced lyrics data and my actual song file i want to keep.So if both versions dissapear from ST3 folder i can easily recreate the song and its synced Words/Chords as its a very labour intensive process to create the later.
I know this should not happen , but it is, and that explains to why i have so many duplicate songs, this is because i am always editing and updating my files for various reasons, my way of thinking and operating is i like to have all my files in perfect order so i dont relly heavily on ST3 settings, i only expect to slightly tweak tempo live.
Heres is a picture of info description in both versions in ST3 folder, i have my preferred view settings of LIST, DATE the reason i have this setting is because date gives me the most current songs i am working on in the top of my list, this makes it easy to find relevant songs quickly.
Also because the ST3 folder SEARCH facility does not work, this is my simple work around.
I am now wonderring because i use the DATE as my setting as preffered view is this using the date data as another distinguishing factor when creating a ST3 new song file so it creates a new file of the same name but uses a different date as its main destinguishing factor and allows another file to be created instead of song name as the first preferance , if this is the case then it sucks, it should always use the song name as the distinguishing factor no matter what the filter settings are set on, it should have nothing to do with filter settings the user preffers to use to find songs.
Firstly the search doasnt work now if the date filter is an issue causing this problem, THEN IT REALLY SUCKS!
What do we have to do to just have things working the way they should, this issue is a major problem we should not be having, i suspect the operating system is the problem.
Peter whats your take on this?
