Damir Hello,

I have one question.
I have connect two more ipads to have the same lyrics on the stage. We are playing with a backing tracks the problem with a slave ipads on the stage is that lyrics scrolling speed is not synchronized with master iPad. On the master iPad i can adjust scrolling speed and it stays in memory next time i play the backing track which is not so on the other two ipads. And help please…..Thanks.

Kitarist your best solution to get best performance is to Line timestamp your lyrics get a router to sync up all your iPads .
This gives you a good fast connection between devices and the line syncing a more reliable movement of the lyrics on all devices with minimal time delay.

Thanks for your answer….The only problem is that i have cca. 700 lyrics….I already have a Router…Is there any other easy solution.
Line timestamp means that i have to do that for every single lyrics If i understand correctly.
Have you perhaps any example of line timestamp.
Thanks for your help and kindley answers.

Damir Sorry i have also forget to ask, on the master ipad the lyrics scrolling settings stay in memory next time you choose the song…doesn’t supose to be the same in other slave ipad….Thanks

Kitarist I believe the master device scroll settings get remembered for every song, the slaves get this scrolling information transmitted to them and that’s where the timing delay happens I believe Peter stated it updates the scroll every 5 seconds , so you would end up with a large delay in response but if you use line timestamp it updates every line as needed with a much smaller time delay making it more usable .
Time stamping is not that hard to do, just play the song through once and hit the time stamp to when you want it to update, you can do it on every line or perhaps every verse and chorus solo etc also using audio segments gives you easy way to jump to any part of a song instantly if you are rehearsing or performing .
Once you get use to it you won’t look back and it’s well worth the time you put in to it.
If you are using lyrics only , I would still recommend to use normal song mode not Lyrics Only because this gives you audio segments capability which is very powerful on stage if you quickly want to repeat or jump to any part of a song instantly.
Unfortunately there is no simple solution to your problem , perhaps version 4 will have that worked out.

Damir Thanks for all infos 🙂 I have somehow managed all three ipads that works pretty good….With ext.Routar it connects very fast and the master iPad have the main control of scrolling speed and now that i change in Network sessions show local lyrics to off everythink works ok….All three ipads works great and they are synchronized.
Thanks again…You have help me a lot 🙂

Do you perhaps know when stagetraxx 4 is coming out…Thanks

Scrolling settings are always sent from the host device to the client devices when the song is loaded. So if you change the scrollspeed on the host while a song is playing, it will not update the clients. But the next time you load that song, the last setting from the host will be sent to the clients.

If you need finer control over scrolling, there is no way around timestamping your songs. Just start with the important ones.

peter But the next time you load that song, the last setting from the host will be sent to the clients.

Hi Peter, can I just confirm a few things relating to this specific feature?

I have a few lyric only songs in my band's set list (rest are all timestamped multitrack audio) and even though I set the Tempo and Duration (both of which are approximations) we find different songs need different Autoscroll speeds from the ST3 default of 1.20 x

Are you saying that on a per-song basis, on the Host iPad, I could set Autoscroll for 1 song at 1.40x and another song at 1.30x and those settings are:

              1. Stored with the song for any time I use it either stand-alone, or in a Playlist?, and
              2. Will always send that autoscroll speed to the client iPads?
              • Edited

Yes, scroll speed is stored on a per song basis and will always be sent to client iPads when the song is loaded.

But I really recommend timestamping your lyrics when using the network feature because each client iPad can have its own font size setting and screen size so that one scroll speed will not be correct for all devices. Timestamps however are always correct.

                peter

                Thanks for clarifying that Peter.
And I completely understand and agree.

My band has 1-2 acoustic numbers where playing to a click (letting me produced timestamped lyrics) has just 'not worked' so we've reverted those to lyric only songs with autoscroll. As a result, I'm just trying to get the best result from a less than perfect scenario... and I've told the singer and guitarist if they want better, learn to perform those songs to a click and I will deliver them perfect! 🙂
