peter This just points out a problem with the existing system , it does not work efficiantly and has a problem where you can easily end up with identical multiple songs pointing to a same file creating a problem where than you cant delete any of the new identical songs otherwise you loose the single file you dont really want gone, all you want is to remove the multiple songs that exist in your SONG list.
This is why i was saying to you to make the system streamlined and simple, any file loaded directly to the ST3 folder immediately is loaded to the SONG view, the song file name is identical in both , the ST3 file name becomes the SONG name and updates the songs meta data to that song name , the artist field uses the song file artist name ,NO IDENTICAL SONG NAMES IS POSSIBLE ANYWHERE , CHANGING SONG NAME CHANGES SONG NAME EVERYWHERE.
CHANGING ARTIST NAME CHANGES ARTIST EVERYWHERE.
THIS CREATES A ONE SIMPLE WAY TO OPERATE NOT CREATING IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS THAT CANT BE GOTTEN OUT OF EASILY.
Number one rule should be, your song name is you file name and cant be anything else.
I dont know how i got to this mess but all i can say it wasnt hard to do.
Heres a way to do it on purpose, and to point out the poor logic.
Load a song to Song
Rename that song
Load the same song again
Rename that song
Load the same song
Rename that song
NOW DELETE ONE OF THOSE SONGS
The rest of the songs are also gone
Reason
I want a version with a count in of hi hats
I want an instant start version so i load the same file and use the trim.
Now i decide i want to only have the instant start and i dont need the count in version
Now i cant get rid of it because i would loose both.
THIS IS A VERY CONFUSING SYSTEM
SIMPLER IS BETTER
SONG is EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE ST3 FOLDER, any changes in ST3 folder also update and change the SONG list, any changes to SONG name/artist updates the ST3 folder FILE NAME And ITS SONG/ARTIST information, ITS ALL IN SYNC AT ALL TIMES AND CAN BE EASILY UNDERSTOOD , USED, AND NO UNUSUAL SITUATIONS CREATED.
you should be able to simply create what you want yet not worry about loosing smething you had no intention in loosing.
If you want multiple versions of identical songs then you just duplicate the file and it will be auto named Love Me Tender/Love Me Tender 1, meaning version 1 etc.
This is how i am use to working and most other programs work.
Your problem is you are not streamlining the system to work the way it suits the user, you are just letting the system do its own thing the way its limited thinking has been created.
