Midi on lyric only file only sends once.

I really appreciate the fact st3 now allows lyric only files to send midi data and scroll lyrics without having an audio file association. I think I have encountered an odd glitch, I use st3 as a lyric scroller and as a remote control for my laptop based sequencer. So I create a lyric only song on st3, specify it’s length and tempo and then add lyrics. I also add to the start of the lyric the midi command in square bracket

Example [midi@00:01.00: PC080@05]
[offset:000]

When my program sees this command, hotel California starts.
If I press stop my laptop sees a standard midi instruction that st3 sends.

[ PC047:13] This triggers a silent sequence which forces whatever’s playing to stop.

I’m finding that if I press play on st3 hotel California , then want to stop the song and start again, it does not send the midi command

[midi@00:01.00: PC080@05]
[offset:000]

out again, but my laptop does receive

[ PC047:13] On every 2nd push of play on st3

It’s not a big deal Peter, but I thought I’d let you know about it.The midi on normal songs works perfectly.

The timed midi command is only sent when you you start playback before the time 00:01.

As for the PC47 command: Check in Settings -> Playback for which event (Load, Start, Stop) you defined this command.

Hello again Peter,

I reset the time for the midi command to zero but it still only sends the desired midi command once. I have to select another song then press play and stop, then return to the lyric only song to restart it again.

I’m on an old iPad Air gen 1 which is awaiting an iOS update, could it be that?

I took a look at it and you are right. Seeking in lyrics only songs does not update the midi player position. Definitely a bug that I will fix in the next version.

In the meantime just selecting another song will reset the player. No need to press play and stop.

Hi Is there any full detailed instructionson how to use stage traxx for lyrics only.as I want to use stage tracks in a band where i do not use backing tracks .

What exactly would you like to know? Basically you can do everything in a lyrics only song the same way as in a regular song. Just make sure to set a song duration if you want to use anything timing related (like autoscrolling).

Do you know how to create a lyric only song ?
Go in to songs, press the + in the top left corner, it gives you the option to create a lyric only song.
