Network Sessions although Network Sessions work fine in the house, on just 2 ipads when on a gig the signal keeps getting lost so tried a modem in hotspot mode 5gz now both ipads see and connect to the modem and it still is losing connection on stage HELP!

Which device are you using to host the network? Does it have an autodetect mode for the wifi frequency. Make sure that is active so that you will not use a frequency where there is a lot of traffic.

tp-link AC750 TL-WR902AC its set on auto i think and why dose it only show up as ipad when you join a session any reason why it doesn't name the router coz don't know whether it its joined to the router or the ipad

OK, the TL-WR902 router is small and primarily meant to provide a mobile access point when you for example want to use multiple devices in a hotel room or something like that. The wifi signal is not as strong as on routers with external antennas. So if you want to use that router make sure you have line of sight between your devices and the router. There should be no obstacles in the way. Placing the router as high up as possible can also help.

I am using my own wifi network on gigs for about 10 years and have used quite a lot different routers until reaching a point where I am satisfied with the stability. Here are some things I have learned:

Only use routers with 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wifi
2G has more range than 5G but gets more congested once guests arrive
Routers with external antennas usually have a more stable network. There are some exceptions like the Apple Airport Express, the Microtik Hap line or Ubiquity
Use a password and encryption to secure your network. You don't want anyone except your band members to conntect to that network.
Scan the wifi network for usage and select the least used frequency. Once guests arrive you might need to repeat this procedure as mobile phones might congest the previously free frequencies. (this is usally not needed when you have a router with a strong wifi signal)
Setup different names for your 2G and 5G network. That way you can force your devices to stay in a specific network band.
Place the router in line of sight of the stage as high as possible

thanks for the reply, the way i set the router up there is only 6ft max between both the iPads and the router direct line of sight, we are only a duo and now only play care homes 40 people max and very few mobile phones about,thought the small tp-link would have been plenty strong enough .and still haven't answered my question why it only shows up as IPAD when i'm connecting the 2 together and not the router name, can't actually tell if the second iPad is connecting to the host iPad or is actually going via the router cheers dave

The name displayed in Stage Traxx is the name of the hosting device not the network name.

To make sure your iPads are using your router open iPad settings and check the Wifi section.

Hi Peter, I get so much hiss and noise from my iPad using the headphone output and the lighting output with a mini plug, I hooked up my Apple AirPort Express A1392 and tried to use it to stream music data from my iPad, very very quiet, but Stagetraxx will not stream audio to the AirPort Express unit I have. It will stream Spotify and songs from the Apple Music player, videos, things from the net. But can't figure out why I can't get stagetraxx to output on/to my AirPort Express. Is there a way to do that? I can only do it on my macbook pro. But can not do it from my iPads or iPhone. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, Dan

If the device can act as a AirPlay receiver, it can be used by Stage Traxx. But the latency will be very high (about 2 seconds). Just connect to the device from the iOS notification center.

Thanks for the image. Everything else plays BUT stage Traxx does not have audio. hmmm. Tried it in 3 iOS devices and same on all. No audio for stage Traxx

So you set the audio output on the notification center to the Airport device? What does the audio routing page in Stage Traxx look like?

Hey Peter… can we use ST3 as a portal for long distance rehearsals ?
Or can you only connect in close proximity?

All devices need to be on the local network. Maybe build a VPN but that would require lots of tinkering to get it working.
