Different colors in the lyric

Is it possible to color the lyrics (e.g. male section or female section or both) ?

Peder Great idea, in my case I use a foot pedal harmoniser and trigger my backing harmonies so this would help me to know when to activate it as there are many songs with different harmony points this would make it really easy one less thing I would have to remember so I can relax more on stage and provide better attention to audience.

peter hi Peter, I have just tried all the formatting options colour,underline,bold without luck i don’t know if it’s me or the software here’s examples.

After I sent this message I realised I did not place {c} command at end of lyrics so by doing this it has changed the colour but I still can’t seem to underline or go bold so I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
I expected colour change command at any point to change the lyrics colour for the remaining lyrics but if you need a specific point then you place an end to this colour, this is more handy than existing logic where if you don’t enter an end of colour choice it just doesn’t work at all and contaminates your lyrics.

Tags can not span multiple lines. You need to close each tag in the same line you opened it.

peter aha that explains why nothing seemed to work the way I expected.
Is there a way to fix this limitation so the entering of control data is easier at the moment no one will use this as its all to complicated and time consuming to be worth while.
I expect to be able to Colour change simply by pressing a point in my lyrics with a window that pops up and gives me a colour change option once I choose this it gives me all colours to choose one and that’s it you have a colour change from there onwards, to end the colour go to new point press the spot, menu opens with colour option select it and choose new colour, this simple and consistent logic creates a great fast workflow that is very usable.

Not possible without completely rebuilding the lyrics parsing module. That alone would be a multi month effort. Not worth it in my opinion because there will be the option to display pdf files if you want sophisticated layouts without limits.

peter hi Peter and Apple, I would expect Apple to provide this type of operation option as standard as it is simple and logical and the way things are done nowadays it seems unfair to your software developers that you are so limited to create something easily that really works well, you would benefit greatly by improving your software development tools .
I would have used these options usefully if they were more user friendly but will give them a miss for now as I am a musician first and computer programmer last.
Well done Peter considering the tools you are working with.

I see. Well it is possible to do what you want. You just need to add the formatting tags to each line in your lyrics.

As for the reason why it is not easy to implement: Stage Traxx uses a custom build markdown parser to do the formatting. Markdown parsers are relatively easy to write but have some limitations. One of these is that formatting tags are restricted to a single line. There is no state stored between lines so the parser does not know if a tag has been opened in one of the previous lines or not. You can also see this behavior in this forum. Just select text with a line break and mark it as bold. It will not render correctly.

Even HTML does work the same way. It is not possible to open a bold tag in one paragraph and close it in another.

Now with time coding lyrics things get even more complicated because lyrics are split up in even smaller chunks depending on your use of timecodes.

Of course it is possible to add state to the parser and renderer but this is a major task that would eat up lots of time. And considering you can already accomplish this by formatting each line manually I think there are much more pressing other features to implement instead of wasting lots and lots of time on this.

peter Peter your explanation just shows us how hard you have to work to give us this wonderful software, i really apreciate it, but i am really frustrated by apple that has not made it easier for you to create exactly what users require you should be able to create with ease your tools should be easy to use to be creative with any requests customers want, it appears to me Apple is not investing enough in developing their development tools to create great software, and thats why its hard to find any seriously good software programs with real purpose its mainly amateur stuff designed to waste peoples time.
I just bought a brand new ipad Pro 11 because of ST3 only, no other reason.
This comment is there to point out to Apple good software sells lots of hardware not the other way around.
So Apple, support your software developers better or else you will loose your dedicated users if someone else develops better software you will lose us, you have done enough with hardware just give us better and more worth while software.

Potential new user here, long time band helper user.

While I love the time coded lyric highlighting, which is nicely implemented, the ability to highlight lyrics and song notes in colors and bold easily is quite a big deal for me, and to me would be worth the time to implement.

I've used this in previous bands where every band member gets their own color for their notes, so we all sync off the same sheet, and we also highlight all backing vocals in green.

Works great and really simplifies live performance. To not be able to just select and color lyrics throughout the sheet, and have to put code on each line to me is almost a showstopper.

Early glance, I like the look of stage traxxx 3, but that's with everything the devil is in the details once you start digging in.

I've also used band helper to trigger timed videos on stage, not sure if that's a feature here as well?

But I did want to weigh in on the lyric coloring, as I've used it extensively in multiple bands.
