Easy way to Copy Songs between existing Playlists. Will be used to build Master Playlists and custom sorting profiles.
Playlist Song Copying
You mean copying multiple songs? Like in the song list when you select multiple songs and then create a new playlist with the selected songs?
Peter Yes, that is correct. When there are Songs in multiple Playlist that I want to consolidate into a New Playlist or even Add them to an existing Playlist.
I have already implemented a new edit mode in playlists for version 3.5 as was suggested by Damir so I think this could be added to that edit mode.

TJJazz I agree, it is not simple to create a new playlist using old playlists arranged song segments, the software always makes you start from scratch using the whole SONG folder which might have thousands of songs when you actually might have 300 songs you perform the rest might be background music song choices which get in the way of easily creating your performace playlist.I know you can simply duplicate a playlist and then masage it but you cant just jump to another playlist and grab songs as needed, as they might not have been in the innitial playlist so now you have to chase for them in the huge song folder , this is slow.
For that reason i did suggest to Peter to have the same editing capability ln playlists as in SONG mode so we can choose songs in any playlist and copy them to another playlist so to avoid searching for them in a huge SONG folder.
The benefits of manipulating songs between playlists would be great as you are only dealing with already arranged songs, and only songs relative to your performances , definite time saver even if you are DJ and have 10,000 songs in SONG mode you should be able to use various old playlists to faster create new playlists relavant for the new gig yet you have a huge arsenal of songs to choose from in SONG if you get an unusual request.
ST3 at the moment is fantastic if you just use it for one purpose and you set it up to do the one job, i find if you need it to do a different job as well at the same time it is easier to buy another device and create the environment to do that second job.
Last nights example i was a one man band and a DJ i created a playlist on my ipad for my nomal performance and for the DJ i used my iphone 11 max with all the DJ songs on that.
This was easier to control and setup than trying to do both jobs on one device, for the reason above no quick way to use existing playlists to create new playlist.
I know it all depends how you use your playlists, i like my playlist to have my whole evenings songs requirement in one list where i can easily foot control step through it as i perform, then i have a playlist for my background music which i use when im of stage, this is simple, every gig is slightly different so i need the ease to manipulate and create a new playlist for every gig this is where the software is a bit more awkward to use it lacks ease of use, it can be done but its slow.
So to sum it up i agree with you and hope Peter will one day make it eaven easier for us, well done Peter and thank you so much for a very usefull tool i had a great night last night thanks to ST3.
As i finished writing this Peter replied with good news , Peter u are a Machine thanks again.
Thanks so very much. I am confident this feature implementation will prove extremely helpful. Stage Traxx is the absolute "best in class application" with a well thought-out architecture, leading-edge functional technology, easy-to-use interface and unparalleled features and benefits.
Damir, Thank you for the commentary you have provided in support of my request. I use Playlists in a similar fashion as you have described. The ability to quickly enhance an existing playlist and create a new one from proven Playlists "on the fly" will certainly prove extremely useful. In my Song Database, I may have multiple versions of Songs in different Keys and customized in some way to best meet Gig requirements. Therefore, the hope is that I can identify a Proven Playlist by Gig or other criteria and easily and quickly copy the songs I need into a new or existing one. And, I also have a huge Song Database and want to avoid searching and potentially selecting the wrong version of a song. Songs in an existing Playlist can aid the selection process. You also gave me a few ideas that I can use moving forward. Thank you again.
TJJazz good to hear we are using ST3 in a similar fashion, one feature I use to use a lot to help me create new playlists quickly was the purple highlighted Done songs in the old ST2 version, that version was great as all the playlists use to remember the played songs and you never lost that data unless you cleared it, but it would only clear that one playlist only, which made it very useful where months later you could easily see what you performed at a particular gig and then you used that as an aid to create a new version tweaked to suit the same venue new gig.
This feature does not work well in ST3 as it is a once off feature that helps you for the now gig and it’s global so it contaminates everywhere and turns everything purple after a few gigs so you always end up clearing it after a gig loosing all history so it has lost its usefulness when it comes to creating new playlists a few weeks later, that’s something I miss a lot, because my gigs are mainly in same venues it does not help me anymore to keep my playlists fresh as I have lost the ability to keep track of what I have performed. To me that was a big loss but I just have to use paper now which is going backwards.
I don’t know if it’s possible to have it the old way on ST3.
Cheers Damir
