Tracks out of sync multitrack

Another update: I have just finished with update 3.6.5 and there will be a change regarding this issue.

You will be able to select an internal sample rate of either 44.1k or 48k which Stage Traxx will use. Switching sample rates will require a restart of the app. So it will not be possible to adapt to the sample rate of an audio interface while the app is running. But it will allow you to run the app in the sample rate that your multitrack files are using.

You will still need to stick to one sample rate for all your multitrack files. There is no way around this. But in my tests I had no issues with audio interfaces running a different sample rate as long as multitrack files and internal sample rates match.

When adding a multitrack file with a different sample rate, you will now see a warning message.

Version 3.6.5 will be available in the next few days.

Multitrack sync issue and sample rate error. I have read the discussion here and am doing my best to understand the solution. When loading files in just as I’ve always done I now get the sample rate error message. I have switched between the two available rates and restarted the app but have a synch mismatch on a new multitrack song. What are the simplified instructions to fix this and make multitrack work smoothly like it used to?

Seems like you have multitrack files with different sample rates if you get that message with both the 44.1k and 48k setting. So I think you need to convert all your tracks to the same samplerate and then switch ST3 to that samplerate and reimport the tracks.

This needs to be done outside of ST3. Most likely in your DAW.

My DAW is Audacity. I have changed bit rate mode to constant with quality at 48kbps. I have changed the rate to 48000 Hz and exported as mp3. When pulling in to ST I still get error message saying ST is at 48000 and file is at 8000. Help would be appreciated thx

Don't confuse the samplerate with the bitrate of an mp3. Creating mp3 files with 48kbps will lead to telephone quality at best. If you work with mp3 files I would switch ST3 to 44.1kHz and create 256kbps mp3 files at 44.1kHz. I can not tell you how to do that in Audacity as I am not familiar with that app.

peter Hi Peter reading this thread after having the same issues.
ST3 is set to 44.1kHz, and the audio files I imported are at a bitrate of 224kbps at 44.1kHz. Do I have to change all my files to a bitrate of 256kbps at 44.1kHz? I want to make sure because this would mean reloading 1,000 files.

Thanks so much for clarification and direction. I figured out how to get 44.1 files out of audacity, and with your directions above I successfully got a new song loaded without error message and solid playback.

Do I need to go through the whole library and change these files? I’m sure the answer is yes…..

I’m sure you have explained why this happened in previous threads. Was it iOS changes or stx3 changes that caused this sync problem? I’m hoping to not have to rebuild the library more than once….thanks again for your dedicated support!

The answer is: yes, you need to make sure all your multitrack files use the same samplerate

ST3 had always sync issues when playing back files that did not match the internal sample rate. This is not new. What changed is that version 3.6 allows you to select which internal sample rate you want to use and the new warning message has been added to raise awareness for this problem.

ST3 will still play files in other sample rates but they will run out of sync eventually.

No, the bitrate doesn't matter. Only the sample rate is important.

peter Hi Peter, ST3 works fine on my ipad but the multitracks run out of sync on my iphone 7+. Is there anyway to fix this. I use the iphone for a backup and often when I'm practicing. Note: I'm using iOS 15.8.

Make sure you set the internal samplerate to the same value as your ipad.

Hi Peter. All my Tracks are 44.1kHz and the Internal samplrate is set the same on my iphone 7 plus and iPad. There might be glitch on the tracks 7 and 8. They are the only tracks that go out sync on my iPhone. If I mute track 7 and 8 everything is perfect. It could be when you added the capability of having 8 tracks from 6 something in the coding went wrong. Just a suggestion.

The iPhone 7 might be too slow for 8 track playback. I could verify this if you send me your logfiles via Support > Create support email.

It seems that the audio engine can not switch to 44.1kHz internal sample rate on the iPhone 7. The speaker seems to enforce a sample rate of 48kHz and overrules the configuration ST3 tries to setup. Your files are all in 44.1. So that would explain why it is running out of sync.

Try connecting a headphone. That might solve the issue. If not, please send me another logfile after you saw the issue with headphones connected.

This time the lightning adapter you are using forces 48kHz sample rate.

peter Thank you Peter. I re-sampled all my tracks to 48kHz and now I'm ready to re-install onto ST3. Do I have to delete all the multitrack songs in ST3 and the Lyrics? What would you suggest is the fastest/efficient way to do this? I have 1,000 files so it a big task. Any suggestions?
