Tracks out of sync multitrack

After about a week of rewriting the audio engine multiple times I can report a bit of success. I managed to remove the crackles in 48kHz tracks. I also improved the sync issues quite a bit. But from time to time playback still manages to get into a state where it is slightly out of sync. Although it is not as much out of sync as before. The downside is that the engine now uses a bit more cpu. Before these changes the cpu on my iPad was running at about 15% load and now it is about 20%. This will affect battery life a little bit.

I still need more time tweaking and testing before releasing a beta version.

Is it that we are asking too much of the software . I mean iPads are limited to capacity and processing.

Please try out normal playback and also multitrack playback. On my device the changes have improved stability a great deal. Crackling is gone completely and sync issues are mostly gone. I say mostly because with heavy testing I sometimes get identical tracks to flange slightly which means a couple of samples offset. But this is only noticeable in test tracks.

Peter, thanks so much for working on this so much. It is nice to see someone backing a product and this type of service and response is what separates good from great.
I have been beta testing and it seems to be good on my end.

Version 3.4.9 beta is still waiting for review. It is not available yet in Testflight. Seems like the review team at Apple is not working on Thanksgiving weekend.

ST 3.5.6

still have a problem with the sync between audio (same result with 44.1 / 48kHz) tracks in a multitrack song
(not always, but quiet often)
(lyrics only song) lyrics are going out of sync (sometimes) when ST goes to background while playing the song

Sorry to hear that. Is there a way to reproduce these problems? I don't see any issues on my end with version 3.5.6.

peter I can send you the song/songs that cause the issue and maybe you can reproduce/look at it. Tried an only lyrics song and used midi to start multitrack playback from another app - all good. It’s strange that once it’s ok and the next time out of sync.

Yes, please send it to support@stagetraxx.com. If you have a configuration where this issue can be reproduced. Please send me the track causing this issue and the 2 tracks you played before. I also need info whether you used autoplay and possibly crossfades.

peter I just tried with few more songs...the same result. In general, no problem till the second track, but then after the sync is going to fail (not aways). I don't know how to send you a song, but it happens with all multitrack songs I created yesterday and today too. They are mix between stereo and mono files. No crossfade, NO autoplay.

I just sent you an Email with attached audio files. Please, try to build a multitrack song with them so we can see the result? I alway put Drums first, Bass-2, e.piano-3, then Gtrs left and right to 4 and 5 if that matters!

What file format are you using? And what do you mean by "after the sync is going to fail"? What sync? And how exactly does it fail?

So I'm bumping this thread up because I'm experiencing the same issue with multitrack tracks being out of sync with all .wav files at 48,000 Hz. Downsampling them to 44,100 seemed to work, but this feels more like a bandage for us. We've been working with 48,000 near exclusively and now have to add "downsample bounces to 44,1" to our workflow — every time we have to make changes (which tends to be more frequent when we're starting out with new material) we have to downsample as well.

Which iPad and iOS version are you using? Could you try if you have the same issues with 48kHz mp3s?

Sometimes my multi-track songs suffer clock problems. I’ve had issues on Gadget and AUM as well with the timing all warped. A reboot of the apps always fixes it but StageTraxx is the main offender. 12.9" 256 gig iPad Pro 2021. Don’t recall this happening before I started using 3 or 4 tracks instead of 1

What format do your multitrack files have?

Wav files from gadget. Recorded over in AUM in order to mix down to fewer tracks, but not simultaneously because of RAM limitations,so the lengths aren’t exactly the same. AUM creator told me how to get them identical lengths so will try that

Which sample rate are they?

Same length is not necessary. But same sample rate is absolutely a must.
