Using Lyrics only tracks issue.

Hi Peter, i have been experimenting using a combination of Lyrics only songs and the normal backing tracks/Multitracks and have found a problem.
Once you choose a Lyrics only track you can not use the next song selection feature, this means whenever you hit stop the next song is never the one you want it is allways the last chosen next song that was selected when you entered the Lyrics only track.This is bad.
Can you make it so we can still choose the next song and by hitting stop it goes to that song just like normal backing track songs.

As you can not play a lyrics only song the app state is always "not playing". What happens if you select a song when nothing is playing is that a song you select will immediately become the now active song. No way to change this as long as songs without lyrics can not be played.

peter yes i understand the reason its behaving this way but it is not workable on stage if you mix the three song types.
Suggestion, to maintain some normal workflow in all modes, what if when you select a Song lyrics file it assumes you want to use this file immediately and locks it in immediately just like if you selected a song file and hit play.This then would allow you to select next song, even though the text file is not playing anything it has just put itself in a state where it allows you to scroll through itself and when you hit stop it releases itself to the next song selection.
Meaning it maintains the same logic of operation as all the other song modes .
This is the reason i suggested you have the stop/ start button exactly the same in all modes to eliminate confusion and seamless operational flow.
The only difference the user should notice is when they hit play on Lyrics only file is nothing sounds and nothing moves it is in a frozen state, you can choose the next song and you can page turn or scroll, pitch change your chords if any, and when you hit stop this takes you to the next chosen song.
This operation is then consistant with the other two modes.
I would go as far a making it if you dont hit play it wont allow you to page turn or foot scroll forcing you to hit play which is really not play it is really just an engage the song so it behaves in the normal manner.

At the moment you are not engaging you are just browsing and this is where your problem is you have to get the user to make a decision to perform this song by hitting play and stop even though the song has no audio.This is the only way i can think of it being user friendly when combining all thee song types.
I think this would be easily accepted by the users as it maintains the same operation flow the fact its a lyrics only track should not matter i should be able to foot control to my next song of choice as i am performing and when i end my lyrics only song i hit stop to end this performance and bang on with the next correct song.
At the moment as soon as you choose a lyrics only song you are screwed, you have no where to go after that if you use foot pedals to run your show.

I agree with Damir - it would be nice if lyrics-only song would behave the same as a normal song I.e. you should able to hit the play button of a lyrics only song to open the lyrics ( but of course it wouldn’t play!)

Agree, it would be useful to define a length for a lyrics only song and let it play. This would automatically enable autoscrolling. It is on my todo list, but I'm not sure yet what would be the best way to achieve that.

I don't want to add any special logic like Damir suggested.

peter I agree no special logic is needed, just exactly the same logic as normal play and stop, the fact it has no audio is the only difference you need to worry about, and no need for different stop button colouring to complicate things , just keep it all the same logic to the end user.
As long as we can keep working the same no matter what type of a track it is that should be the main goal.
