Update issue?

I’m wondering what I have done, or update has done...

I played a gig tonight and there seemed to be a massive gap between songs.

All of my previously saved start and end points for each song have been deleted. I can see that there has been an update applied. Will I just have to manually put these back in? Not sure how many others have accounted this, as I’m not sure how many use this feature.

It’s a bummer. Not the end of the world, but a bummer nonetheless.

I am not aware of issues with the start and endpoints. Do you have a backup file available before the update? If yes, try to restore the backup. It should restore the start and stop times. A database only backup should work.

peter haha, well I guess I’m the first!

I do have a backup, but I have added a few random songs here and there since I made it. I think I’ll just approach it with a “that’s life” viewpoint and we march on.

The program has saved me endless hours and improved the presentation of what I do, so I have immense gratitude for that. Just wanted to flag it in case others also used karaoke files and had altered their start and end timings for many tracks. Backing up is a great option!

Out of interest, would there be a way to trigger start and end points for tracks (in a programming way), upon the commencement of the actual music? As in, would there be a method of triggering a file from the start of the sound contained within, rather than having 9 seconds of silence in some cases? If so, it would be a great feature to request!

I will keep an eye on it but I am not aware of any change I made that could remove the trimming points from your songs.

So you would like a way to automatically detect silence at the start and end of a song and set the trim points accordingly?

I guess that should be possible. Stage Traxx already analyzes the loudness of a song for the waveform calculation. It is is rather rough as one waveform segment could be about a second long. But I think it could work out if the trim point would be set to the first segment which has not only silence.

Is this what you propose?

peter Hi guys, regarding auto silence at front and end of songs capability, I have just come across this program that seems to do it very easily called https://twistedwave.com/ios
I am starting to use this on the iPad to package all my backing tracks as it does virtually everything I need simply and efficiently and transfers the edited file directly to ST3.
The silence feature is great as you can use a threshold meaning it will get rid of the click as well and still start immediately on the song, it also does so much more so it seems to be a great app to use just before ST3.

I also use Twisted Wave before loading a song to ST3 for adjusting song volume - a very useful app.

Can it do batch editing so that you can get all the songs "in the ballpark" volume-wise?

SoloGuy i dont think so i think its meant to do the basics with ease one song at a time, if you have an ending that stops abdruptly it can place reverb to fix it nothing fantastic but its better than nothing, the trim works really well once you get use to it, it really is just easy to do the basics on the ipad without involving a daw on a computer.

SoloGuy No Twisted wave doesn’t support batch editing but the availability of vu meters greatly help in setting the volume of a song. I have a ‘baseline’ song’ that I can use to compare and adjust the volume of my new song by A/Bing. Once I’m happy I simply import to ST3 - all on IPAD.
