peter So an idea that might work better would be to add a midi trigger field to the audio regions. That way you could have maybe even only one single midi trigger that could be assigned to a different region for each song and would trigger that region. That way you could have a lot of flexibility (configurable by song) with the minimum number of pedals needed.

I totally agree with this technical workaround , but operationally I don't see how i will know where I'm about to jump to with this one button that keeps changing to a different preset for every song, i have 500 songs , each one has anywhere between 6 to 20 segments , when i choose one of these songs which i might have not played for months , to what is about to happen when i hit one of those six pre programmed buttons.
Yes technically it will work , but will it work on stage under pressure and with lots of songs , plus this involves an extra foot pedal, at the moment i have 9 foot switches add another 6 thats 15 foot switches to dance on each having multiple commands , thats 30 commands in total , i am a guitarist singer , i don't see myself as a tap dancer as well , perhaps that will make my act more interesting , 🤔 that means buying a pair of tap dancing shoes, i hope they aren't too expensive😂

You claim to read and understand but I’m 100% you don’t. I know English is not your native language but try to read the posts at least twice before trying to spam with different things.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but is somehow tiring having to explain 10 times the same thing to you in different words just because you don’t read properly.

I clearly stated that my idea is NOT a fixed static one…. And gives you the freedom to assign which region you want to be triggered by the buttons, like a “region recall button” per se…. With a dropdown menu that AFTER you long pressing the desire region, you can assign it to one of the 6 buttons for example. Or with a label, tag, or anything that Peter can come up with.

When I said “Chorus #1” I clearly stated that let’s PRETEND, ASUME, EXAMPLE…. That if YOU LIKE, you can assign always the 1st for choruses, or not!…. Please read man….

I understood perfectly the first read but you seem to not understand that I am not going to be wanting to program things on stage , pull down menus and select things.
I am singing playing a guitar engaging with the audience all I can manage is a quick single touch of the screen on occasions where my song order needs to change , anything more is absolutely not gonna happen .
I spend a lot of time at home preparing a song I don’t want to be touching or pressing anything if I can avoid it.
If I had a band and was playing bass in the background , that another story, I could manage a lot more.

I support the idea of trying to improve the operation and make it simpler to use, but I don’t see it working well on stage for all the other reasons I mentioned.

Is this a solo singer only request?

How the hell would people in a band know what part of the song you are jumping to?

From the original post, I gather You don’t have the time to just go forward or backward through the regions as you are too busy playing an instrument, where do you get the time to communicate to 4 people , ok boys, we are jumping back to verse 2 or the bagpipe solo …what if the guitar player has his eyes shut ( normal) and the singers deep in the audience doing Johnny knee trembler??

In my case, since I’m the one controlling the tracks, I consider extremely necessary to have a mic so I talk to the band, you never know what can happen controlling backing tracks, and sometimes if you need to change on the fly you can cue them and keep them informed.

My whole band uses inears and I control with a 2 way Chanel selector if I just speak to the musicians or to everyone “just to avoid distraction the singers”

Ps: I have several projects, cover bands and a Pro famous singer who runs metronomes & some backing tracks with the full band, and is the same, we added the play audio interface so we can have redundancy. And in all cases communication is key

Si tienes 7 solo los puedes contener en una sola región que le actives loop y vallas a ella cada vez que quieres hacer un solo
En cuanto a las 7 estrofas repites todas las estrofas o te vas a un lugar específico
Y repites desde allí
En cuanto a lo de parada etc lo que tenemos es una pista hecha de antemano que tú la modificas. Te demora horas hacer esto. Y vas luego a tener 20 posibilidades de modificarla en vivo?
La que yo propongo es dejar lo que existe y crear 6 botones jump modificados para los que queremos hacer acciones repetitivas y no tener 64 posibilidades de cambios

Esta opción no elimina nada de lo anterior solo agrega 6 botones jump para los que hacemos cosas repetitivas y no queremos tener 64 posibilidades de cambios en vivo y ir con el dedo apretando o con el pedal pisando 30.ve es hasta llegar a lo que queremos

En st4 con los pedales no se puede asignar una región específica
La propuesta amigos está dirigida a una gran cantidad de músicos que usamos tecnología pero:

Tocamos guitarra, bajo o saxofón y debemos usar pedales para tener las manos libres, no podemos depender del dedo índice en el iPad
Interactuamos con la pista debemos usar forma eficiente y rápida. Acciones repetitivas en cada canción. No 30 posibilidades de interactuar
Usamos pedales con tecnología nueva como los que mencion
Bueno el problema es que no comprenden lo que trato de explicar

Mate I do get what you want, I’m a singer but I played guitar and keys at one point, it’s a lot to juggle while doing the mix too.

I remember the occasions when using st3 I have tried doing volume up down, next track previous track, play stop with buttons on the floor, without even playing an instrument I found this took my eyes off the audience, and while I was dancing about, I found I hit stop during a song, which was embarrassing.

I was just saying that sorting through multiple regions in hundreds of songs and defining chorus as button one, verse as two, sounds like a lot of work to me, especially when you have the option to just navigate forward or backwards with two buttons. BUT!!

As I said many times, we all want what we want and nobody quite sees why a few clicks is such a big deal until it’s their request that is being scrutinized. I for one know that.

So I wish you the very best of luck with your request my friend and hope Peter adds it to his list.

Also, you have just fixed your performance to be set the same every gig, and made it very hard to remember how you have arranged the switches for 500 songs in my case, I see this as a possible advantage if you only used I switch with short press long press and ability to program them as suggested, for those jump back moments when you get to end or jump forward if you need to finish early.
Then I would set all my songs appropriately to easily give me the jumps that are different for every song but the same in respect I want to end a song early or extend a song to lengthen it, idea is to always jump to solo as an example, when approaching the end but needing to keep going, or to select a last chorus as an example on the same switch with a long press to advance to that segment to shorten a song .
This means 1 switch with 2 commands , if that was an option that was preset at home this then is less confusing on stage and does not need to be labeled as the result of pressing it for any song is known.
Single press gives you an extension to a song and a long press shortens your song.
This I could use , but not six buttons and numerous setups of scenarios I could not remember for each of the 500 songs.
Any thoughts?

We all perform differently I guess, and for me, the version of a song I hear on the radio, is the version I perform, I never use regions, so when a song is coming to an end, yes I think, another chorus would have been nice, but I just think if they are dancing to this, they can dance to the next song, and if a few seconds of silence drives them off the dance floor, well that’s their problem.

With relation to Gbarosemena’s request, he must be playing something completely different to me, I’m looking at my songs, the majority have verse choruses and solos that could be repeated. I think I would struggle to give them more than 4 button allocations, verse chorus, solo, middle 8, on the proviso that a 3 verse, 3 chorus song would only need one button for a verse, and one for a chorus. I have to be honest, I don’t think I would struggle with this in the way you suggest, as you have your own song part naming convention which would be common to every song maybe, verse choruses solo, as I said This is not how I work, so I’m just thinking out loud.

Yes , and that’s the problem some users would never need this flexibility while others might benefit with some songs , because my songs vary greatly because of the ethnicity of the songs I could benefit to a degree when using foot switches but only if it was there to lengthen or shorten each song with one button push .
I play certain songs that people dance in a large circle named Kolo in Croatian , now this song length could be 3 minute or it can keep going for up to 12 minutes depending on the mood and age of the crowd.
Having a very simple button push to get to the last bit of this song would be great or a long press to get back to the middle of the song to increase its length, without touching the screen or stepping through 15 audio segments would be great.
But having more buttons than that would create great confusion as you would not really know what you would get if you hit them , specially if you haven’t played them for a few months.
So I say yes give us two assignments to program one button to give us consistent function of reducing or increasing a songs length that can be setup in audio segment editor for each song , so you know if you long press once you get a longer song and If you tap once you get a shorter version.
That my brain could handle on stage as it’s quick to implement last moment without stepping through lots of segments.
I think that’s a good compromise and we don’t need to use it if not practical for us but it’s there for those that might find a good purpose for it.
Then if we see this is brilliant then Peter can increase the number of possible assignments.
That’s if he likes the idea in the first place.

With relation to the existing forward and backwards region option, I did propose one switch would suit me, click once you go forward, then long press to reverse the direction, then one click and you are going backwards, it’s not what you two want I know, but I’m just thinking of real estate and guitar fx pedals hogging that space. You can come up with so many options, but I think it’s only fair to leave Gbarasomena to pitch his own request to Peter maybe??

That’s exactly what I do with my little chocolate foot switch , I had AirTurn 6 before and it was very poorly designed, with this 4 switch petal I actually get 10 commands that are possible by using single tap or long press this gives me ability for 1 switch per function, I wish it had a double tap as well so I could control volume and other functions with up down and reset to default, but I can’t complain for the money it’s ridiculously easy and good to use.
A great compliment to ST.

I’m just worried that if Peter implements this and wastes a lot of effort it might turn out to be a waste of time because of all the reasons I mentioned earlier , while there are still little things that need improving that benefit greatly on stage solo users, are not addressed.
