Hi Peter,

Cathy, Tracy and I would benefit from being able to “select all” or select a few songs and mass edit the details, but specifically for keywords.

We are all using keywords on our systems for different dance steps and this is a great feature that we thank you for introducing.

If we were able to select multiple songs or select all songs in a playlist and add keywords, we would save probably twenty hours each!

Could something like this be possible for future release?

Thanks for a great program!

Jared

I already thought about that but decided against it as each song could have a different set of keywords. So what should be displayed in the keyword list? Where should the checkmarks be displayed for existing keywords?

The only possible option would be to just be able to add keywords to multiple songs but then what happens if you make a mistake (for example select all) and add a keyword to all songs? Correcting this mistake would be a mess. You would need to edit every song individually.

Do you have an idea how to do this better?

    Hi Peter,

    Thanks for responding

The preferred way that I could think of would be from the songs menu.

Selecting a few different songs or select all and to edit the keywords from there. I put multiple keywords on each song.

Good question about the mass edit and making mistakes. Is it possible to also add an undo changes function after it has processed?

That would be an ideal combination for me, not sure if it has support from others, but as someone who has had to import their entire repertoire of 2500 songs, it’s a tedious process to add keywords individually. Great function, though!

It allows me at any time someone comes up to stage and asks, could I have a cha Cha, I can filter very easily.

Keep up the great work, I use your program every gig.

So after a bit more thinking, the following approach could work:

    1. You select a bunch of songs and tap on a keyword icon in the toolbar
    2. Now you need to select whether you want to add or remove a keyword
    3. Then the list of keywords opens and you select one

The selected keyword will be added to selected songs or removed from selected songs. It will not be added to songs that already have that keyword and it will not be removed from songs that don't have that keyword.

This would allow it to easily remove wrongly assigned keywords.

peter great idea! I could definitely get behind this, would be a very useful function for people who were starting from scratch with the program.

im trying to teach about six people at the moment and we are coming across some interesting function requests, but we are discussing before sending to you!

We believe in your fantastic program and I really enjoy your open approach to making the 1% improvements

peter Not sure which way you were thinking - as for UI positioning of said button/feature, but I think it would make sense either next to the "SORT BY" and "FILTER" options at the top after hitting edit....

      OR

At the bottom where you have the "add to playlist" "new playlist" "select all" etc.

I would say that it might be better at the top, because it is essentially another filter option. As for an icon to display it, maybe a giant letter "K"?

I'm really excited for the number of people who will benefit from this, especially after importing all of their songs. A few of us used OnSong for a while and this is significantly better.

peter Thanks for approving this Peter. I look forward to it.

      Great idea! ...replying to:

only thing is, how do I select multiple songs at once? (Or better yet, where can I find that in the support manual?)

      Absolutely LOVE the app!!

On the song tap, just tap on "Edit" and then a selection circle will appear before each song.

      Hi Peter

A keyword should an independent entity and you should able to delete them or change them.

The songs could then be assigned to a keyword, the same way as with playlists or the other way around. You should be able to assign a keyword to several songs the same way.

I am still greatfull for your work and for this fantastic APPlication 🥰

Keywords are already independent entities. You can create, rename and delete them.

        peter

That would be nice, but I don't get options for Edit (pencil) and Delete (garbage can) 😢

You need to swipe to the left to get this menu.
