In fact I’ll go even further with that idea: replace the orange/amber tint throughout the entire app. White (light gray) will make the UI cleaner and allow the places where colors actually exist (for example audio regions, lyrics and buttons) pop and shine.

peter feeling a bit stupid now realizing it was a setting all the time. That said, white or rather ”none” is missing in the picker for Tint Color.

I don't think that's a valid option. It would make the interface unusable as you would no longer be able to see clickable elements in the app.

peter I still hope you would consider the options I mentioned in my original posting.
I'm just back from a gig, just confirming that the ST4 waveform with regions, as it is now, is just going to make me stay with ST3. The orange coloring really puts me off, and does not inspire me to use ST4 the way I use ST3.

And if you don't find the request doable, that's fine, I love ST3, so much is just perfect there for me.

Lishy Because any tint is changing the colour of the regions. As white, or 'none', is not an option, all other colors are changing the original region color because of this tint. Red is no longer red, but purple, yellow turns greenish and so on. Don't know if you use waveform with regions, but if you do, you know what I'm talking about. If not, maybe try it.
Don't get me wrong, ST4 is turning out great, but this is the last bit that disappoints me. Everyone seems to get buses, midis, codes, chords and all kinds of bells and whistles. But this seems to be too difficult. So for me, ST3 will live on. Fine.

royandreno yes I do use them and it doesn’t bother me and certainly not enough to make me consider not using it.
It’s the same in ST3, albeit the waveform isn’t as big so it’s probably not as noticeable.

Well, good for you. I'm just suggesting something that would improve ST4 at a glance. Just because something doesn't bother you, doesn't mean it's perfect. Unless you have a valid point contradicting my suggestion, leave it up to Peter to decide if it's a feasible idea or not.

Here's another example how massively the waveform gets affected by the tint. The original region colors are totally unrecognisable. Here's teal blue selected:

OK, playing around with it and considering my goal to have as few settings as possible, I will generally change the color to light gray. Visibility is good and there is no obvious difference in the region colors between played and unplayed part:
