Playlist question

when I swipe left on a playlist I get four options , I don’t understand one option , can anyone explain it?
The orange folder button , when I choose it I get this

I assume it’s a way to save this playlist , to the root folder , but I see NO FOLDER AVAILABLE , what’s the story here?
I pressed the root folder and the whole window closed leaving me stomped, i don’t know if I’ve done anything at all I went to root folder , I don’t see anything.
I just came across another mystery folder I don’t understand RESTORED LYRICS?

The way I see it simply , how I would have it an option on swipe left gives you an option to move this playlist to history for later use if needed.
A history folder to exist in root folder to store all related functions just like multitrack folder, or PDF folder, so everything is stored away neatly and is self explanatory.

So any help here would be great.

No, it is to move it into a folder that you have previously created.
You create Playlist folders in the Playlists menu -> Add Folder.

You are over-complicating it in your head. Forget all the system folders and files.
You can create folders for storing Playlists. It doesn't move anything else (like audio or PDF lyrics); just the Playlist in the Playlists view.

OK, the way I see it now is overcomplicating it, why do I need to make a folder first, who is going to do this?
I expect a simple swipe left on a playlist and MOVE TO HISTORY or a folder called playlist history, meaning I don’t have to know or do anything to preserve a playlist it simply is either deleted, edited, duplicated or stored for later use.
Isn’t history designed for that purpose , otherwise why have it , whenever I want to see a gig I did a few weeks ago I should just go to history and recall playlists I might want to reuse and then rename them , but if you do a lot of gigs you end up with a lot of playlists , so ideally you should be able to simply store them, history seems a logical place.
To me that’s simple, having to know you have to create a folder first is not intuitive, perhaps a playlist history folder should exist already and we simply swipe left and save to that folder instead of having to know not so obvious things, like creating a folder, to me that’s complicating things.

The folders are virtual (only in the database) and a way to organize your songs and your playlist. I would highly recommend making use of this as it can speed up the lists dramatically once you have more than maybe 1000 songs.

So where do we create these folders and what’s the best way to use them, I have 2000 normal songs I listen to , than I have 500 I perform with that are broken down to stereo with drums, stereo without drums , multitrack and, I also have playlists I would like to preserve.
What would you suggest I do to create order in the main ST4 folder?

Folder structure is up to you. Whatever works for you. Maybe a folder for break music with subfolders for genres or moods or something like that. And folders for the different types of backing tracks also seem obvious.

WOW PETER! This is fantastic!
I wish i had this in ST3, now i can do so much to work the way it suits me , create a HISTORY folder to actually store my old gigs in a very simple way and get them back any time i like , this is very nice , once you know about it , i suppose new comers will adjust easily and older user will sniff it out eventually, and if they don't then they probably never needed it.
Ive got some organising to think about , this is great stuff.
And you can do it in SONG MODE AND PLAYLIST SEPERATELY 👍

Hi Peter,
Here is quick feedback without trying this proerly.
When i select a created folder and it opens i don't see its name anywhere , so-if i had multiple folders i wont really know which one I'm in , the name of the folder is more relevant than the SONG mode i'm in.
Question
Once i MOVE songs to a folder , can i reverse the process?
At the moment i can rename or delete a folder , does delete actually get rid of the files out of ST4 and if so, how do we remove a folder without loosing the files , can we place back these files to the root directory?

To add, i was in SONG MODE when testing this , PLAYLIST MODE is PERFECT and self explanatory, SONG MODE is the one I'm talking about.

To add, how do i place songs in to the new created folder in SONG MODE , when i swipe left on a song i only have two options Duplicate, Delete where is the MOVE option like in playlists?

Damir The move option is always available in the toolbar when selecting multiple songs. I forgot to add a swipe action in the song list for individual songs like in the playlist. Will add that missing action.

Deleting a folder will not delete songs or playlists in that folder. It will simply move all songs in that folder into the root directory.

musicadi Folders are another way to organize your songs and playlists. They are no replacement for a playlist and are more like keywords.
