Tapping the button to show song list has misfires
Meaning it doesn’t open everytime
It also misfires and starting the track again probably because the waveform seek and progress bar can’t be disabled

I’m proposing to bring back the show sidebar from ST3 or at least the option to and also tapping the song title would toggle the sidebar view

As is is ok if it worked reliably but it’s nicer not to have to place your hand over the full screen to change views especially if you do it mid performance , the old way was more definite, obvious and in a better place , being up there it feels like you are entering a menu to tweak instead of changing views, perhaps a choice might work or more feedback , my gut feeling is the old felt better,
Tapping on title is not great as you need to know this to do this. I hated the old drop down and pull up screen in ST3 and still think a more obvious method would be better I’m too old to go to mind reading classes 😂

jaytrax hasn’t happened to me, but opening it is pretty sluggish (at least the song list). It appears that it doesn’t take into account which song is selected, so if you selected the last song, when you open it, it scrolls from the top all the way down to the last song

@Damir reported the starting issue a while ago but I wasn‘t able to reproduce it. I think the misfires and the start issue are a cpu load problem. Damit has more than 2000 songs, how many do you have?

iPad with Stage Traxx 3 - 752
iPad with Stage Traxx 4 had 200 songs
iPhone with Stage Traxx 4 had 5 songs
So I’m not sure if that’s the issue

Damir Maybe moving the icons to the bottom, next to the play button would be better 🤷‍♂️

Interesting.

I just tried reproing (ST4 1937 on iPad 9th Gen iOS26.0.1, 137 songs in song list) and could not.

I tried with Top Panel Display set to Waveform and Audio Region Controls.
I tried lying flat on table vs in Portrait mode (a few quirks reported recently based on orientation).
I had a timestamped lyric sheet with highlighting and audio regions playing while opening/closing the sidebar (both on Song list and Playlist modes).

I can definitely see CPU load jumping to low 80s (baseline is low 20s on my iPad without messing with sidebar) as I open/close the Song List. The way the song list currently renders on open - it always Opens at the top of list and then visibly scrolls down to the selected song - seems to incur quite a CPU cost.

Is it possibly something that only occurs over time? I.e. reboot iPad, launch only ST4, play song, open/close sidebar - does that perform better and then does performance/behaviour worsen as you play more songs (i.e. over time)?

The view with all its data is reconstructed when you show it after it was hidden and completely destroyed when it it hidden. So that‘s the cause for the high cpu. Maybe a possible workaround would be to keep that view active and only hide it visually. Not sure if that‘s possible with all that SwiftUI is doing behind the scenes but I could take a look at it.

I suspected that was the cause and was hoping for the same proposed solution, and that it could be applied to all sidebar contents.

Anyway, back to @jaytrax problem of the button not firing... Still baffling..

If I move those buttons next to the play button, I already know there will be complaints that I should not put anything near the play button (which makes totally sense).
