Master Volume behaviour.

I’ve noticed if I change the Master Volume, up or down, on the third song I select it gets reset to 0db.

Also, as someone who doesn’t use Multitrack files/clicks, etc. would it be possible to have a setting to hide these if not required.

I can't reproduce the issue. Master Volume slider does not change for me no matter how many songs I load. Can you create step by step instructions to reproduce this issue?

What exactly would you like to hide? Especially the master volume slider is something I would never want hidden. That's the way to control overall volume without affecting your fine tuned song volume settings.

1) Open Playlist, 1st song is selected.
2) Drag Master Volume up to, say, 3db
3) Select another song, Master Volume stays at 3db
4) Select another song, Master Volume resets to 0db.

I have recorded a Screen of it happening if there’s any way to show it you.

For me, I would hide Tracks and Click, but I’m a very simple user so it’s only a nice to have.

OK, so here I have to explain a bit about the master fader. It replaces the yellow queue / playlist fader from ST3. You can define volumes for a playlist. When you load a song from a playlist, it will set the master volume to the playlist volume.

But actually I'm not sure if this design decision is a good choice. Maybe we should get rid of the playlist volume and never change the master volume automatically.

Could I get some feedback about this? Is there anyone who would miss the playlist volume setting?

Personally I don’t see the need/point for the playlist volume.
Every show we do has a different set of songs in it and I take great care to balance all songs in our full library individually against a fixed reference track.
So my playlists are always different and the songs within them are individually balanced. So for me, I would not miss playlist volume. I am sure others may disagree…..

I don't think I'd ever want, need, or use a Playlist specific volume setting/control.
Master volume should be, well, Master Volume and only change when I move it on the Mixer (or did we also get a remote control option or MIDI option? In which case, that as well).

peter I personally never used playlist volume. You can just change the individual volumes for separate track anyway. The only scenario I can think of where this would be useful is when you have a playlist with background music that you use during breaks. But then again, you can just turn down the volume of your iPad in iOS when you play background music.

In my opinion, master volume should always stay the same, unless you manually change it, though I never use it either.

I think I will comment out the playlist volume slider and the corresponding functionality in the next build and wait if anyone will complain. If there are complains, it could be easily restored. But I agree that the current behaviour causes confusion and it did that already in ST3.
