I think is gonna be impossible to find a “one shoe fits all” app, everyone has different needs, and I do appreciate the effort Peter is putting here.
Here’s my 2 cents. IMHO
I think, the panning, and EQ in each tracks is too much, don’t get me wrong, is a great feature to have, but we all need to put the work in our daws to eq, pan, and get everything gig ready for all audio tracks before importing them to ST4, that would allow the mixer to look less busy? And also it might improve the stability of the app by having less things?
I do like having 16 Buses, while some work with simpler setups, a few others work with bigger setups and having more options is a blessing. I do work with a renowned singer and we have different setups according to the budget, up to 16 musicians, and sometimes down to 6, and having options for the mixing engineer to route the rest of the instruments separately is amazing because we works with songs that have up to 32 tracks that might be used some days and some other not.
For me the biggest “issue” is the midi… the whole point of having this cool apps to control backings tracks is not just “press play “ we can do that with our phones, but having the ability to recreate the freedom that a live band have is the main goal, to not feel “tied up”? To a specific song structure etc etc…. I know the midi is greatly improved, but if Peter somehow manage to achieve the level of midi implementation that “Multitracks Playback App” has for the midi…. ST4 will easily be the best app in the market. (Sorry to make the comparison).. but we can learn and copy the best of others and create a superior product right?.
If you are interested Peter, I can make a video of the app that I mentioned and do a quick explanation on how they implement the “Midi cues and Midi Mapping” of the app…. Is truly remarkable, and perhaps it will trigger some cool ideas.
Again, I’m not trying to compare, nor to be mistaken, is all in good faith and trying to help make this app even better!
