Hi Peter , hope you are keeping sane creating ST4 😂.
I am giving you my expectations of what I would like to see in ST4 that would make me convert to multitrack songs, so don’t take this as must have requests it’s just a wish list.
16 tracks of audio either stereo or mono , if you need more than this you are doing something wrong or you are so professional you don’t need ST4.
When creating these multitracks in the DAW I expect to simply export these tracks in to a folder , this folders name is the song name and all the multitracks in this folder are individual track names , the order of these files is kept within the folder so when you import this folder or drag and drop it to the ST4 folder the song gets immediately created in ST4 and all the multitracks get placed in the same tracks they were in the DAW.
This makes very easy and fast transfer and creation of multitrack songs this to work in reverse where you can place the multitrack song back in to the DAW without too much stuffing around for quick editing.
If there is only one audio track in a folder this gets loaded in to track one and treated as a normal stereo/mono track.
The idea is to keep it absolutely simple to operate.
Multitrack operation on stage to be able to be operated for an audience listening immediate impact SOLO/MUTE to be able to be operated while performing to create different moods of the existing song similar to what we have now with Audio segments operation this is the main reason I would use multitracks as stereo file is doing its job but I can’t manipulate the individual instruments , multitrack operation would give me this , example , hit solo on drums to just keep the beat involve the crowd choose a different segment then release the solo to fully get back to the full backing , this would definitely make me want to use multitracks , yes it’s great to take out an instrument for the overall gig but that I don’t need as a solo artist , I need on the run control.
Hope this makes sense.
Have a great day Damir
Im back, to add, all songs are in their own folder, if you drag and drop a single stereo audio file in to ST3 folder it automatically creates its own folder of the files name and becomes a stereo song in ST3 once you load a text file in to this song , the text file is within this songs folder if you load more audio files in to this folder it just adds them in to the extra multitracks and becomes a multitrack song , if you delete all but one audio file within this folder it becomes a stereo track , without doing anything different , this applies to pdf files , basically all data is within the songs folder.
If you change the name of a song within ST4 it also updates the main folder name and the audio song name and the text file name and pdf name , keeping everything easy to follow and maintain.
So basically ST4 folder has only song folders within it and all other data is within the actual songs folder.
