peter I'm not sure ST4 will have beat detection (at least in 4.0). The algorithms I came up with so far have been too unreliable. It was basically not usable 50% of the time
Yes I understand beat detection is complicated to achieve but a count in function does not need this to work even on ST3 , we have already tapped in the BPM time in to a song manually which then can tell the count in function what time it needs to allocate to give us a count in with a visual display of something like 4,3,2,1 and start the backing , this could include a click as well that can either be placed left or right only or both or muted. This way we have any audio option , plus a nice big number display in the middle of the lyrics screen that counts down to the start , now you could choose any number of bars for the count in say from 16 bars to one bar or none.
This then works in a way, if you don’t set a BPM on your song you don’t get the count in function as this is mandatory as the software needs to know the tempo required so it can accurately lead you in to the start point, it’s the users responsibility to than setup the correct start to the song either using ST3 TRIM function or the DAW to create the start point they need.
This would then eliminate having to pre program this in the DAW and allow you to create this count in at a later date if needed without having to go back to the DAW again.
I think this would greatly improve ST3 s POWER to those needing a count in without introducing a complicated DAW..
