Ideas for future versions, comments appreciated...

Here is a starter... 🙂

Find & replace in editor. SO useful. I have to do most of my editing externally so being able to do this in ST would be a big time saver. IE, if I import a chord pro doc minor chords are usually noted as 'Amin7' etc. In the display in ST it is much easier to layout lyrics/chords if the chord names are at their minimum IE "Am7". Also "Bbmaj7" is much neater as "BbM7". etc etc

Folders for set lists. We do maybe a a hundred shows a year. The playlists list is going to get very full and hard to navigate. And yes, we do keep ALL our old setlist so we can see what we played before at a venue, even though we tailor every show based on what we think they will like and what we want to play. We have a repertoire of about 250-300 songs at any one time so always fun making a new setlist 🙂

Key of song in Song details. Strangely not shown but always the first thing a stand-in musician asks

Place holders in Playlists for things like “Set 1”, “Set 2” “Introduce Band”, “Say thank-yous” etc. When playing a 4 set show it would be great to be able to break it up at the relevant points with notes to remind us of what to do when.

Print out a formatted playlist (setlist). Ability to select which fields appear (Title, Key, time, tempo etc). Sorry but a plain text dump just doesn't work for people on stage. And it is yet another thing to do for every show to format setlist in Word etc.

Folders for songs. It is a bit of a pain having to ensure every file for every song has a unique name. Typically our songs have 10-12 tracks. x 300 songs. That's a lot of files. Also, bit concerned about the OS (iOS) handling such a lot of files in one folder. Also, organisation would be far simpler.

I would love to hear further comments from other users on these ideas.

HISTORY is for that, but the way it’s designed is not very useful, I have commented on that years ago.

Create a song that is your place holder, colour it differently and inert it between your songs within a set list , name it what you want and place your notes in the lyrics which will instruct you to,

I agree, printing options and saving to file options ave very limiting, lyrics with or without timecode, chords , all data or single data or any combination would be very useful. I also mentioned this ages ago. To present to clients needs or band member needs or just for recreating new versions of songs needs.

You can put the key of a song in the artist field.

For placeholders use lyrics only songs.

Well for me at least, the priority would be find replace. Having to do all my lyric editing externally is a pain. I guess it would be easier if the text editor I use supported your markdown formatting. I currently use Sublime but that does not. How are you doing this?

BTW, can I just ask, I am working on migrating all my song sheets etc into StageTraxx. To do so I am creating MultiTrack songs and just adding one stereo track in Track 8 to act as a time generator and to allow me to timecode my lyrics.
Am I doing anything that I am going to have to undo/change when I go to V4? (Obviously remove the stereo track as I will be using my stems)

MarkGuitar Don't worry, version 4 will read backup files from version 3 and make sure they convert to the new structure in version 4.

Damir I use artists for other important information the key of song should have its own space and filter capability. This applies to TEMPO of song.

This I also pointed out in early development of ST2, was hoping ST3 would change , but hopefully ST4 will be much more user friendly with regards to this.

Damir yes I agree. Using the artist field doesn’t really work for us. We have numerous versions of the same song where the original artist is defined to allow us to distinguish which version of the song it is. We could still add the key in there as well but it is messy. And as you say, not possible to filter by key, something we often do

I edit in Stage Traxx on my Mac.

MarkGuitar When exporting stem from Logic, the markers in Logic are exported in the audio file (if using Wav). Which is great.
Is it possible for the colour of the marker section to be carried over onto ST as well?

No, the color information is not exported by Logic.

I use a consistent colour scheme for Verse, Chorus , Intro etc which is a great help to glance at the screen and know what section we are on. It’s amazing how quickly I get to know that a yellow section coming up is a solo etc.

MarkGuitar I use green for solo red for intro and ending , 2 blues for verses, yellow and orange for choruses as they are more energetic so brighter colours , verses are calmer so calmer colours , and purple for bridges or any other unusual things in a song.
So I totally LOVE and use colour for an on stage advantage to gain peace of mind while performing.

Damir Yes me too. And it would be great if the colors of the markers I used in Logic came across when importing the stems. Not even sure if that info is actually in the WAV file with the marker. Peter?

MarkGuitar I don’t bother with logic markers transfer , it’s quick to create audio segments in the editor and colour them , I don’t think they are transferred anyway unless you use .wav export.
