Next track during Playback

Chamery it’s like that so that if you accidentally press it whilst the song is playing it doesn’t skip to the next song which would be a nightmare, especially if you’re playing with backing tracks.
It might be possible to do it with just your midi footswitch. Which one do you have?

I totally agree with you Lishy, BUT!, thats why we have LYRICS ONLY mode and this should be available to the user on foots witch if the song is a lyrics only song thats why we have the two modes , otherwise whats the point of lyrics only song.
Yes you should be able to skip to any song with the up down select foot switches and you should be able to skip through audio segments with another two foot switches so you can easily manoeuvre through the lyrics only to get to any part of the lyrics you choose , if you don't have audio loops than a scroll up down foot command with a speed adjustment per song so you have full manual control on the feet.
Not everyone needs backing tracks , but would like a very simple way of manoeuvring through a song text without involving a set duration or audio segments.
You should be able to easily select any song and scroll through its text by foot with ease and have simple scroll speed selection on screen.
If using the time selector then that automates the scroll if no time is set than the foot control does the job .
That capability should be there.
Perhaps it is , I've never tried to do this cause i use backing tracks.

Yes they do have relevance , because you can use a normal song with a backing track that has audio segments to easily manoeuvre through the lyrics by using you foot controller by NOT playing a song , simply select a song and manoeuvre through the loops to get to your verse, choruses, you don't need to play the audio because you are simply using the text only.
My point is , you also have lyrics only songs , so this is where the difference should be in the two song modes, you should be able to simply load your text in to the editor , choose any lyrics only song hit a button on your foot and have a smooth scroll through that song text without any other involvement , except the scroll speed adjustment on the screen to choose your speed .
At the moment i don't believe this can happen.
So why have the two SONG MODES?
There are midi foot controllers out there now that can program each audio segment to be instantly available on a switch, the foot switches are becoming very powerful but the software needs to be adjusted for all those features to work.

Indeed, my question is in the context of a “lyrics only” song. My goal is simply to have the lyrics scroll on a given timing, when i finish singing my song, via a midi action, I can go to the next song.

My use case is as follows: I use Apple Mainstage to manage my entire concert. For each song, I have a set of settings (which intrument, which reverb, which effects, etc.). And as soon as I've finished one song, I can move on to the next just by pressing a midi controller. That's why I would have liked the lyrics to change in Stage Traxx at the same time.

I think this should be an option for cases like mine. We could have a “stop current song and play next song” option.

Hi , I'm in the process of upgrading my foot pedal and have done some research on whats out there, are you using a pedal that can record your foot switch commands per song on the pedal itself?
So when you choose a song on the pedal it automatically sets everything up for you.
So what you need is for ST3 to simply jump to the appropriate song and text with one button push then you simply scroll through the text?
Perhaps tell us in more detail how you use your foot pedal and which pedal it is so we can help.

Damir the OP hasn’t mentioned any of the things you just have and think you are over complicating things here. Unless I’m misunderstanding he simply wants to go to the next song whilst the current one is playing with one footswitch. It isn’t possible via stage Traxx at the moment but depending on what footswitch he has he might be able to do so on that with one press instead.

That's what I'd like. I don't use any other features, because I actually play the music live.
I don't use a pedal, but I have assigned a button on my keyboard to trigger a midi action.

I'd like to start the concert with song 1 (Lyrics only) so that the text scrolls slowly for, say, 3:30, and then by pressing my dedicated button, I can go on to song 2 and so on.

Lishy yes i understand , but what he is asking for already exists if he does not use lyrics only.
In lyrics only you are limited once you hit play, you are stuck.
With normal song mode you don't need to hit play, you simply jump to a song and move through the text by selecting your appropriate audio segment, you can move to any song at any time and chose any part of the text you want all by foot.
In lyrics only you don't get that luxury.

I also get the feeling he simply wants to use one foot switch on the pedal to select a specific song just like his reverb settings , to do that ST3 needs to be able to receive this midi message and understand which song he wants , this is not available on ST3 at the moment.

Chamery thats what i thought, the only way to do this would be to have your setlist in order with your keyboard so when you hit play on your keyboard you trigger start ST3 , it plays through and stops then you hit play again and the next ST3 song plays , this is very limiting because you cant jump around your song set list and you have everything perfectly timed so you are very much fixed to the programming.
St3 cant recognise specific midi command to choose a particular song perhaps ST4 might, Peter might be able to help

Lishy yes i know , we would not want that as it would kill our backing, thats why it should be capable of doing that in lyrics only because it has no audio, so if the user wants to interupt the play mode and move to another text he should be able to do that in lyrics only mode.
This is something Peter needs to think about.

So you can send a midi message from a foot pedal to select a specific song?

I don’t think that’s possible right now as that would involve each song having a specific midi program number in ST3 , I know you can select numbering to the song order but that would change when reordering songs,
Perhaps what we should have in Playlists only is a system when you create a playlist the first 127 songs in that playlist can be recalled by a foot's witch via a midi command , the only thing with that is if you re order your playlist the foot switch commands become wrong.
So I don’t know how Peter is going to implement this you almost want an ability to enter the midi command in every song so it stays with it no matter what position and can be recalled by the same command on the foot switch.

Well then, that solves the issue of sending a midi command from a device to choose a song all you do then is scroll manually by foot to see your lyrics.
I assume that’s all that was wanted.
You should not need a set time in that case so you can choose any song at any time and just scroll through the text. Using a time setting as play function restricts the new song selection.

Chamery During a live concert, you want to act with as few buttons as possible! And when you really play a song live, the duration can fluctuate. So I'd just like to be able to move on to the next song, by manipulating a single midi control.

Use the Crossfade action to move from one song to another during playback.

I tried to activate the crossfade, but I don't really understand what I'm supposed to do.

Here's what I did:

I assigned the “Next Song” action in the midi settings.
I went to Settings > Fade Settings, and set the following settings:

But when I click on my midi controller, I always get the message "Not Possible during Playback”

Chamery I don’t use it but I think you need to assign the midi message to the ‘initiate crossfade’ option in midi assigns and not next song.

That’s because Peter has programmed it that once you hit play nothing will stop the show except the STOP button or the XFADE , I think Lishy has hit it on the nose, you need to program the midi command to send a XFade message to ST3 to get to the next song whenever you want this should work while you are in play mode.
