Damir there’s absolutely no difference between selling a Ferrari or ST4. Both products needing to end up being sold.
The final price isn’t the issue.
If there was only one Ferrari there would be less Ferrari drivers, and while 20 dollars isn’t a big thing not everyone can or wants to spend that much. Not everyone can afford a quality PA. Many can only get bottom range stuff. I know musicians who can barely afford to buy guitar strings. The reasons are irrelevant. Those are conditions that exist.
You are right. Simple is simple and would be easy to implement.
But, will limit the user base, especially those who struggle (and many do) or those who simply think they only need to play stereo tracks out of their phone.
Why pay for things you don’t need?
Peter needs to make money, and lots of it. That’s the model. You as the user haven’t got a clue what it takes to make this app. He does.
You can’t possibly understand what I need to do to produce songs for clients, and if I had only one price, one plan, one way of charging a customer I would have less studio clients, and while on topic, way less live gigs clients.
I also think that rewarding current customers with a reduced fee is a good idea, it works everywhere.
Waves (plugin company) was full of crap for years. No discounts, no client input etc.
Now they are leading the field with their discounts and are selling plenty (I have bought a few of their bundles just because they offer sales)
Ik multimedia
UAD
Toontrack
To name a few, software companies who had zero interest in doing sales are now doing that.
I have read, replied and now deleted a post on facebook with a guy literally cracking ST3 to be able to edit his files on windows. (I’m admin there)
Inflexible developers quickly get left behind.
You want simple. You can have that. That doesn’t mean everyone else needs to do like you. Peter needs to be able to appeal to everyone.
On that note I don’t think $20 will cover his efforts. Pro apps cost 50, 100, 200. Some DMX apps even 1000.
I think Peter should offer ST3 (maybe ST4 lite) for 20 and be able to sell the main app for more with options to expand features for extra.
That’s my opinion. I don’t want simple. What I want is for Peter to have the incentive to sit home 15 hours a day make a ton of money and make his apps better and better. Daily.
You think you think for everyone but i don’t. I am sorry. Not dogging you I am saying it as I see it.
Sometime simple is better but in this case it just may be not. Again, I could be wrong but time will tell depending on what Peter decides.
Logic Pro works better simple because Apple owns the hardware and software. They make the hardware and make so much money on it that it makes sense to make the software simple and cheap. I love that and in this case I am in full agreement with you. Press a button pay for the app, download and work. Yes. Perfect.
If Peter owned and made the tablet ST4 would run on then I’d be happy to agree with your point.
But he doesn’t. Apple takes a chunk of revenue from his already. So I don’t want cheap and don’t want simple. He makes money = we get the benefits.
Do you see my point now?
