Sample rates

Hi I set stage traxx to 41.1kHz and all my tracks have made at that sample rate. I just switched to the allen & heath cq-18t and it supports 48 and 96kHz. Do I have to convert all my tracks to 48kHz

No, you can keep your sample rate 44.1

Sharonzaz thanks. Yes 44.1. Just did a rehearsal for a few hours and no issues.

If you use multitrack files, you might get some sync issues because the 48kHz interface forces a samplerate conversion which should be avoided when running multitrack files.

With simple stereo files, you don't need to worry about sample rates.

peter thanks. so does force it on the ipad or the mixer as it all seemed to work fine using multitrack files

peter I know this is an older thread - I create my tracks in Cubase 14 at 44.1khz and my goal is to use ST multi track to my new CQ18t. Are you recommending that I convert my projects to 48khz and re export the stems using that sample rate?

I would first see if there are any issues with the current setup. Make sure the internal sample rate in ST3 is set to 44.1. Then the only conversion is at the output to your interface. If that works fine, keep it. If you experience out of sync playback between your track, you might need to convert the tracks.

peter thanks Peter I will give it a try. I’m going to be spending the next couple of weeks dialling in the new mix and moving to multi track playback vs stereo out. I am looking forward to the added flexibility

Will the out of sync be obvious from the start do you think? I’d hate to be live and start to have issues

If all your songs have the same number of tracks, you will most likely not notice anything. If different songs have different tracks active, you will most likely notice something after playing a couple of songs.

If that happens, restarting ST3 will fix it.

peter My initial thought is to have the tracks assigned as follows: Track 1 drums, track 2 bass, track 3 backing vox, track 4 keys, track 5 combination of other types (percussion, etc), track 6 click (intro)l across all of my songs for consistency. Routed to channel 56789 in the mixer

In that case I guess you should be fine.
