Hi Peter, we all know how much time it takes to complete a fully time stamped song, so I have a suggestion to shorten that time considerably.

Entering chords is a total pain.
Why not make it seamless , when you choose a point of entry and hit the bracket to enter a chord why not automatically pop up a window with all chords already in capital letters and choices of minor flats etc so all we do is hit the ones we need and hit outside this box to exit , this would also eliminate many unnecessary steps to enter data, plus it will stop us from creating 2 brackets in the same spot which I have done on regular basis due to a not very friendly way of entering regular repetitive small amount of data, yet having to manoeuvre around a keyboard designed to do a lot more then we need.

When entering time code, and making a mistake and using UNDO / REDO as you reverse the steps have an automatic time reset set for us so when we hit start we get a nice pre roll of music so we can continue entering time codes with minimal fuss, you did do this when editing the end of song trim and it’s great, why not implement the same on UNDO/REDO, if these buttons are used it means we need to fix something so help us do it fast.

This applies to chord entry, if we hit the two brackets it means we need to enter chords , so help us do it fast.

Just these two things would really make a great TIME SAVER.

Not a fan of clicking together chords. Too many different user preferences and it is always quicker to type in than to click.
Undo/Redo is handled by iOS/macOS. Stage Traxx does not even know that you pressed undo.

Sorry Peter I don’t understand the response , clicking together, what I was suggesting is when you choose to enter a chord you get presented with a box that gives you your seven chords in capital letters then a choice of a sharp or flat and then a maj minor 7th 9th etc all within this box so you don’t need to jump around a keyboard as all these things are not dedicated to chord entry and are very awkward to use, what you get presented is a very simple choice box that allows you to quickly make your choice and get on with fast entry of chords.

The keyboard is fine for typing lyrics but it’s not fine or I should say good enough for chord entry, it’s not as good as it could be to make an important job easy.

So can it be made that you create remote buttons that trigger these UNDO REDO functions plus set the offset replay start to the the last undone time code and place these Buttons in the top section of the lyrics editor , that way we would have these very important functions always visible in the app no matter what silly changes apple do to these functions.
You can shake a device , you can 3 finger the actions so why can’t you have dedicated buttons to represent this function in the app itself with a convenient auto re cue point for easy editing of time codes?

That's exactly what I mean by "clicking together". It is way faster to type "am7" instead of 3 taps on a onscreen dialog which would be a pain to design in a way that would be consistent on phones and tablets.

That would most likely be possible. I will think about it.

I totally disagree, it is much faster to have all necessary things you need on one place and just choose what you want then having to change screens on keyboard with lots of unwanted things in your face , example every time I enter a chord F#m7
This is what happens
I have to make F a capital letter firstly which is a pain,
Then I have to find the # symbol which is a pain ,
Then I have to get back to the letter keyboard first before I find the m minor letter which is amongst lots of unnecessary letters in my face which is a pain,
Then if I have to change screens to get to the numbers screen and enter the 7 which is also surrounded by lots of unnecessary things which is a pain, now if I need to do this every time I use this chord it becomes a lot of unnecessary pain,
It is much faster and less painful to hit the brackets and hit the four things I need and hitting outside this box gets me going to the next chord entry, if I had the know how I would also program this box to remember all chords entered so next time you enter the same chord it becomes fully available so you simply hit the brackets and choose with one hit any other chords that become created and are used by the song, this creates a very fast working system to create chords and use them .
3 commands enter a chord, that’s efficiency.
Hit the brackets and choose a chord and exit.
Simple
At the moment we have 10 steps we need to do this and we are always surrounded by unnecessary clutter of other key options which is not user friendly.
My idea gets rid of all that and gets you exactly what you need with minimal steps.
This would definitely put a smile on the musicians face, perhaps the computer nerds might be feeling a little naked.😂

Lishy thanks Lishy, I should not have to introduce another software to help, I already have multiple software to get the audio the way I need it ST3 just needs a little polish to be able to use its own text editor more efficiently.

The songs I perform are not available in Ultimate Guitar or any other similar service , I often rearrange the songs I perform and I have different language songs so I have to use ST3 as my master editor .
Which is fine, but it needs little tweaks to make it efficient and more dedicated for musicians.

Why should I need to edit lyrics and chord elsewhere when ST3 is the logical place to do this, I normally create my backing in a DAW I copy and paste the lyrics in to the ST3 editor now all I need to do is enter the chords , this is where it becomes slow and clumsy because I do it all on my iPad using the software keyboard, this process sucks because there are too many steps to go through to enter a chord , this could be made a lot more efficient, I don’t want to lug around a Bluetooth keyboard which would make it a little bit easier but still not great.
I have a Mac Studio that sometimes I use and even that is not practical.
Imagine when you hit the brackets you get presented with 7 chords and all other options to complete your chord , this chord then appears as a complete selection for you to use again when you select the brackets , you might have a dozen chords in a song all nicely pop up as an option as you simply hit the bracket choose a complete chord and move on to the next chord change , this eliminates a lot of steps to enter a chord , this then makes ST3 a dedicated music program not just a basic text program.
I don’t think that’s asking for something unreasonable, it’s actually very logical to have this type of thing in a program like this.
As it deals with lyrics and chords not just lyrics.

You really want to connect a bluetooth keyboard when editing lyrics. This will speed up the process 100x.
