  • TIME CODE OFFSET improvement needed.

Hi Peter , feedback,
i have successfully tried the offset feature in both directions, it works.
BUT, as i said earlier its not user friendly for a quick adjustment, and i have found a problem with it.
It also effects my visual count ins which i don't want to show early i want them in time with my music so i can come in, in time, this is a problem.
How do you get the lyrics lines to change early yet the information lines to be in time with the music?
The way i did it all this time is the simplest , just time stamp lyrics lines on the AND before the first beat and any lines you want spot on you just hit on the beat.
I think i might remain with my method and not bother with Lyric time offset at all.
Anyways at least you can perhaps improve the instruction manual to help others who might be time stamping on the beat.
Cheers and good luck with ST4 πŸ‘

This tag will affect everything in the lyrics editor that has a timecode. If you only want to offset specific timecodes you need to edit them directly.

peter thanks Peter, I will keep on using my method of time stamping as it gives me flexibility to do different things , it’s not great but it does the job.

Wondering here as were on about time sync of lyrics -- havent tested it (will do it later today if I get a chance).

If you time sync lyrics to a song, then decide using the interface to either speed up or slow down the track, does Stagetraxx take this into account and "magically" slip or push the times of the lyrics to match, and if it does, does it amend the lyrics text editor times to suit?

    Thanks

    Dave

The Time codes get automatically adjusted for you according to the speed you choose, but the Lyrics Editor time codes always remain the same , they don't change unless you change them.

Damir Thanks mate -- as I suspected. would be nice if the actual lyrics file times were updated to reflect it, but also I notice that when a song is speed shifted, the actual song length also doesnt change to the new time

Times are not recalculated when you speed up or slow down a song. What happens is that the reported time of the audio player progresses slower or faster. That's why the original timecodes work with any speed setting and the displayed song duration does not change.

peter thats how it appears to us non computer nerds πŸ˜‚ and that explains to why time-codes in editor do not change πŸ‘

DaveT Peter explains it technically, which all makes sense , once i timestamp my song i count care less about them id be happy to be able to hide them so i can edit my other stuff with ease.

DaveT but also I notice that when a song is speed shifted, the actual song length also doesnt change to the new time

Peter explains why very nicely, but i only speed shift in my editing process, as this works best , doing it in ST3 with average audio quality sounds bad, i only use it live when absolutely necessary, i never use it as a permanent change, and if you do it live you haven't got time to think about time stamp changes or length of song as you have just been stressed enough just changing the speed , singing, playing an instrument on stage and trying to look professional to the audience, i think some things are not really that important to worry about, but thats just me.
I rather see a faster and simpler editing process, because a lot of time is used up in that.
And as they say TIME IS $.

Damir This is my issue. The songs were time synced etc etc, but now we have a new performance member, and hes wanting the songs sped up (around 40 to 50 of them) ever so slightly. I agree, I dont use the speed shifter in Stagetraxx, but edit them externally to keep the higher quality. The PITA is that it means I have to go through every single song and re do the lyrics time syncs.... would have been handy if the speed shift on stagetraxx, had adjusted the timings within the lyrics file to suit the speed increase, then I could have simply copied and pasted the new lyrics into the externally processed file. Never mind, im 3/4 of the way through them now lol

DaveT i see your problem now, i every so often have a song i uptempo and yes i have to do the same thing, its a pain , i also wish we could save the transposed lyrics for that same reason, and at least be able to seperate the time codes from the lyrics /chords when saving, this would allow us to change key, and have the chords changed permanently, without stuffing around if you end up editing back in the DAW, i don't like using any trims settings either i edit everything perfectly in the DAW, but ST3 does not make it easy to recover to the new edited version easily.
I think thats whats needed to save a lot of time.
