Connected clients loose host connection

Most of the time I start a hosted session and then connect the two other iPads and all goes well. Other times within a few minutes one or the other, or both loose the session. Hitting close and rejoining works for a few min then looses again? I have found that when they loose the connection if I shut all three down, reboot the Host iPad, then the other two, then reconnect the sessions stay connected the rest of the gig.

I am using a 5g wireless router mounted in my rack of other gear.

Any ideas?

JDSMUSIC perhaps try using static IP Addresses instead of DHCP. I have stagetraxx hosting and viewing on my network as well as all ArtNet lighting, desk remote control, and also HDMI over the same network (HDMI to network adapters and vice versa), and stopped having dropouts when I went to static IP for all kit connected. Also make sure it's a closed network -- i.e. no internet access at the same time

I'm sorry but the connection handling is done by the Apple Multipeer Connectivity Framework. I have no control over the details of the connection handling.

The only advice I can give is to use 5g networking and scan for free channels to avoid network collisions.

peter What app can be used and on what device to do 5G Networking scanning? I'm having the same issue now with my TP-Link WAP using 5MHz network for our three iPads and I'm the host session. All stay connected to the TP-Link, but they are constantly losing the session in ST3. Last night's show was the worst and we couldn't get them connected back at all with a whole set left.

There are many free Widi scanner apps in the App Store
Basically do a search

They will scan and show the most crowded channel
Obviously pick one that’s least crowded

I also use Wifianalyzer on Android from time to time. No idea about something similar for iOS.

I only have iOS and MacOS devices. I do have a PC in room too if there is a Windows 11 app.

I came across a similar problem on my lighting rigs when using Airstream Bridge, and the solution there was to use a higher channel number on the connection as they are valid from 1-14 and the lower numbers tend to have more traffic on them. Hope that helps.

Yeah, there is so much going on in the 2.4GHz area it is really hit and miss. In the last couple of gigs I did have a really unstable bluetooth midi connection with constant disconnects. Then there are gigs when it works without a glitch the whole evening. Move whatever you can to 5GHz. That works much better.

2.4gig is a nightmare, especially on shure digital mics 😂
