Volume of ST3 nowhere near YouTube output

Hello again,
Apologies if this is a simple question, or has nothing to do with ST3, or it has been answered before but I'm having a problem understanding how this works.
I am trying to get ST3 playing through a headphone dongle, which it does, but the levels are so low compared to a YT video of some classical music.
I have my iPad volume right up, the ST3 master level is right up, the file that I am playing peaks at around -0.6dB and I am playing it with zero gain in ST3 but even if I give it a full 6dB boost it is nowhere near as loud as YouTube. I can't export the file any louder without it clipping so I can't understand where I am losing the volume.
Is there a ST3 or iPad setting that I have overlooked?

There is a technical reason for this 6db difference which has been discussed numerous times, to fix your problem just turn on your master EQ in settings then boost the master volume to +6 even +12 if you want and you will get a grater output , but then after a while you might find out to why it is set to -6db , sometimes you have to go through testing things to learn.

It has made it slightly better but now I have a red-line sound file being boosted in the track settings by +6dB and then by +12dB in the master settings all going through an iPad at full volume to earbuds at full volume and I still think I would struggle to hear it in a noisy room.
Any chance you could point me to where this has been previously discussed so that I can 'learn' what the reason is? Can you remember what the thread was called?

DuskDave sounds like you need to check all your master levels , firstly check your song level then check your playlist or Queu master level then check your master level in settings , also have your device volume turned right up, then double check the EQ level if you have enabled it , lastly check you haven’t inserted a plug in in line and its level turned up to normal, apart from that it could be your earbuds but that would also include other playing software which you say is ok.
So that’s all I can suggest perhaps Peter has more he can help with.

Damir is absolutely right. Check all your levels. There is only a 6dB difference to other apps if Song Volume and Playlist Volume are both at 0dB. You can compensate that with the gain adjustment on the master equalizer.
