I was able to resolve the issue. I was prepared to just buy it again, but once I attempted, my account saw that I had previously purchased and then restored the full version. It's only happening on my laptop, not on my ipad, and I've had to restore it a couple times this way, but the fix is consistent and reliable. I'd consider this maybe just a quirk with my laptop and/or network and resolved as far as it can be. Thanks much!
I would still caution other users to make sure you save a backup regularly though, because if you get locked out of your full version somehow and try to reinstall without backing up, the reinstallation starts the program fresh with no data. At least that's how it behaved for me.
